Crew members at AWA fly seperate... US together

Sounds like my old DC-9 trips. Sitting doesn't pay money. Flying does. Give me more legs then. There has to be a better way. I'm just saying, we should look into it. That's all.

sky high states: Mostly definitely. But......will they build trips to suit the flight attendants if and when they separate us from the pilots. I think the senior ma-ma's will agree that the me-too clause helped for many years because they were tied to the pilot's and FAR's. It's sad to think the F/A's now want to separate because compensation is so low that we now opt to fly MANY HOURS OVER what we should have to, to get a decent paycheck!!

This is a big can of worms.

Not sure what you mean, by we are flying more. That changed when the pilots gave up the duty rigs, for a no-furlough clause(which by the way, was given up during their neg.) In other words, it was a freebie to the company, but f/a's worked 3-4 more days a month, depending on your flying option, at the time. I don't mind working 19-20 days a month for 95-100 hours. That would be with no rig time, which is basically what we have now. I just don't want to be on-duty 26 days to get it.

"One has to wonder if they do separate the front and back, if they would downgrade the flight attendant HOTELS/layovers compared to the Pilots."
Are you kidding? Can our hotels be downgraded more-

sky high states: Ever stand next to PILOTS ONLY waiting in the HOTEL PICK UP area at the Airport? I've heard the word: MARRIOTT. Can you believe that!! <grin>

sky high states: PITBULL, what's wrong with that sentence?

19 or 20 days? are you serious? try the caribbean 1 days..you can get 95hrs in 12 days...

Safety excuse is such a cop out. A doctor or nurse handle way more on longer hours in the ER. There's real safety issues then there's BS issues that are disguised. Keep it real.
I also do surgical rotations at the hospital monday through fridays. Fatigue and shortages are a serious problem there as well. What do you know about keeping it real...do you have experience in either flying or medicine?

<SNIP> Fatigue and shortages are a serious problem there as well.
I’ve often wondered about that myself.

Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH), in two of the nation's first comprehensive studies of sleep and medical intern performance, has found evidence that indicates eliminating extended work shifts of 24 hours or more, implementing shift limits of 16 hours or less and reducing work weeks to less than 80-hours, decreases the number of medical errors performed by this group of physicians.

Yesterday alone, I witnessed a sponge being left in, tucked way behind the uterus. In a another surgery, the chief intern almost snipped a ligament instead of a fallopian tube (for tubal ligation). Fatigue is a major factor in safety, whether it's one patient at a time or taking care of a planeful of people.

Why bring Bull into this. Haven't you ever worked a month with no rig time? And being on a higher option, it averaged to 5 per day. Sure, I'd love to go back to the 12 or 13 day, 90 hour months, but if you want to #### at someone for that, blame ALPA and AFA. I've stood next to many pilots and mostly what I heard was, "This sucks".

That would be great in a perfect world, but there are just not enough of those to go around.

And since we can drop down to 40 hours a month now, that means that I would only have to work less than two days in the whole month. Emergencies be damned!!!! I can do that!
Come to think of it...I have done a 24 hour duty before!!! Remember CRAF, roundtrip middle east flights? You've never seen a crankier group of flight attendants. OMG!

Don't be so sure......... <_<

DUH, everyone knows the sponge needs to be IN the uterus to stop pregnancy!!!! Right?

 It's much better staying with the pilots

uh, ya, how else can you snag a pilot husband?

Yeah, and you'll be so b7tchy too! I'll be all like...can I have a Mini-Moo and 2 baileys with my coffee and you'll be all like I'm reading an article about Britney's rehab in People Magazine

Pharmacist: Can I help you?
Elaine: Yeah, do you have any Today sponges? I know they're off the market, but…
Pharmacist: Actually, we have one case left.
Elaine: A case! A case of sponges? How many come in a case?
Pharmacist: Sixty.
Elaine: Sixty! Well, I'll take three.
Pharmacist: Three.
Elaine: Make it ten.
Pharmacist: Ten?
Elaine: Twenty sponges should be plenty.
Pharmacist: Did you say twenty?
Elaine: Yeah, twenty-five sponges is just fine.
Pharmacist: Right. So, you're set with twenty-five?
Elaine: Yeah. Just give me the whole case and I'll be on my way.
