I am just starting a thread to get some Rez/Cust service comments on what is going on with our 'historic' union alliance, and how it affects us in the bottom line.

I have next to zero info myself. I learn more on this board, than I do from my workgroup, or my union people. (no corespondance has been sent since the 'alliance' approval)

PQA, apparently the company was granted an extension until early december to accept the association. The union feels this will give the association time to get pay parity issues ready for negotiations..Sit tight this is unchartered territory and will take time. The teamsters website has occasional updates but like you many of us are in the dark. Many in rez are also in the dark as to doing our jobs as training has been non existent. And I, 😀 like you learn about the company here!

It's not just those of you in res in the dark. We get occaisional "this is what function was added to QIK today" briefings and that's about it.
It'd be nice to get some actual news rather than going off the rumors that are running rampant through Terminal 4!

Alliance Continues
Negotiations Over Pay,
Recognition with US Airways
US Airways NMB For More Time
The National Mediation Board (NMB) has granted a request by US
Airways to extend the time for the company to comment on the
Airline Customer Service Employee Association, IBT-CWA, the
alliance of workers at the merged US Airways.
The NMB agreed to extend the airline’s comment period to
December 5. Previously, the company had until November 7.
After overwhelming approval by America West and US Airways
CSRs in mid-October, the parties filed a request on October 19 to
have the NMB transfer representation certificates from the
Teamsters and the Communications Workers of America (CWA) to
the new alliance.
“The additional comment period gives the Teamsters more time to
negotiate pay parity under the US Airways pay scale,â€￾ said Don
Treichler, Airline Division Director.
Any negotiated settlement would also provide recognition by the
company of the IBT-CWA alliance.

I also know how you all feel. I get more information from www.cwa.net then I've ever gotten from teamsters which is ZERO. I have complained to the powers that be and still they have given us no information in res. I am in direct contact with CWA and have learned more from those people than I ever did with teamsters. As far as I'm concerned we'd be much better off with CWA PERIOD.
I think the pay issue will be settled by June but first of all we need to decide what to do with those retired from U and as our contract with CWA says--if your pension stops then your seniority picks up from where you left off. Lots of people in res out West are not happy with that but hey--how many of me are there. Maybe 1 other???
Good luck everyone.

DITTO! We've had like what, one or two contract negotiations with the company since we voted to go union? PLUS, the company showed up with the Mechanic's contract and didn't even bother to change the wording of the jobs!!! What a joke this has all been.

(And thanks for the links! WAY more info than I've ever gotten from IBT. Another reason I voted NO on this "alliance.")
