Recently there have been three suicides and one possible attempted suicide in DFW and AFW. The latest was DFW AMT David Diaz. I knew David. He was a nice guy, ex Marine, former Riverside County Sheriff's Deputy. I still don't believe it! What the hell is going on? Dave, I hope you're at peace now, brother.

I am not sure of the cause, but there have been some in Tulsa also.

I have some opinions on the matter, but last time I expressed those, it set off a fire storm.

If anyone is unhappy at AA they are free to leave...

Prayers have been said for Davids family & for everyone at DFW. Based on your post & being a former leo I could venture a guess but that would be just what it would be.
May God bless you all during this time. I also hope you folks have EAP that you could take advantage of.

Typical jackass commentary. If you think you're imune because you are a company shill boot licker, wait...you'll get yours. We're all on the Titanic. I may be in stearage class but we'll all sink together. Remember, there's not enough life boats! You'll probably dress in drag to catch the last life boat. May you rot.

I am shocked that anyone would write such an insensitive reply to your original post. There are many who will keep his family in their thoughts and prayers. It is almost inconceivable that someone could feel so much pain that there was no other choice. We have lost several of our f/as after the loss of their careers, insurance, and hope for return. This is a time to hold your family and friends close and remember that they are what is important. Everything else is not worthy of thought. I'm sorry for your loss.

Another very sad story. The massive 2003 concessions are taking a serious toll on everyone, except of course management, which apparently have had their "shared sacrifice" restored in spades (I'm talking levels 1 thru 6, we all know about the Upper levels  ). I have learned from a low level management person their "upgraded" pay scale and raises have been implemented since last year. You pull...while we win.

Nearly everyone I know with a family and a mortgage not in management is working two jobs, including a working spouse. The constant strain is causing divorces and separations.....mostly over money and deteriorating family life because no one is ever home. I guess some see no hope for improvement, and sadly end their suffering..... forever.

I have attended two funerals in the past year for friends and co-workers that have ended it all. Its hard to look at kids who don't understand what happened to daddy, and grieving family members who tell of hardships and the toll it has taken on them. Very disturbing to say the least. I wish Jim Little could have attended the services, to see what his lies have done.

EAP with AA is not to be trusted or used in many opinions including mine, your problems will be used against you if or when needed. Never devulge any more personal information to a corporation like AA than necessary. Better off seeing a private doctor.

I hope David is in a better place. May god have mercy on his sole.

I don't know that I'd call lpbrian's response insensitive as much as it was poorly worded.... There are far more important things in life than where your paycheck comes from. If your job is pushing you to the point where you need a way out, then walk away. Immediately.

That said, to assume that job related issues are the reason for these suicides is a bit naive. While it is most likely a contributing factor, there is usually a lot more to the story than what any of us know.

My wife's ex committed suicide a number of years back, and we blamed it initially on an unhealthy situation with his immediate supervisor (Ralph Grunhof) which resulted in him being fired from AA.

It wasn't until a couple weeks later as we were packing up his apartment that the rest of the pieces started fitting together: he'd also had a recently failed relationship, was tired of living hundreds of miles away from his kids, and had received a speeding ticket just hours before he was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

This is way off topic, but I guess I must have missed out on that restoration.... At the time I quit, I was still earning less in 2005 as a L5 than I did as a L4 in 1999. I don't know of a single person in management who has made it to their pre-paycut salary without having changed jobs or levels along the way.

I get different stories from different people. I would like to ask to see their W2s or final paycheck of the year, but I am not quite that brassy.

I agree. I had to walk away from the airline industry -- something that I really loved. I still miss the industry but am much happier at my current job.
