What's new

David Diaz

Believe what you want.

We have a welder and some AMT's claiming all management people got raises, and we have several people actually in management (including me, who would have had to sign off on any raises for people reporting to me) who say it's a crock of shite.

All I ever signed off on was 1.5% which didn't even come close to the double digit cut I took.

Unless it varies by department no, the truth is not somewhere inbetween. In Crew skd where we have 1-5 managers, no one here got more then the 1.5% that everyone else got. Hackman is full of crap and spewing off information for which he has no proof. I look at my pay stub and that is all the proof I need.

Get your facts straight HACKMAN!!!!!!...I am a level 3 in management and so is my wife. No One and I repeat no one levels 1-6 has received anything back secretly. so take your flaming lies and crawl back under your rock.....your anti management crap is getting old. I for one work three Jobs just to help make life easier.
I pray for the man who took his own life and pray for his family this is a tragedy that could have been avoided.
So touchy you management peeps are!!! Only repeating what your cohort in management was claiming OPS!!!! The level 4 miscreant wouldn't lie would he??? Nah.... 🙄

If you re-read my post, I said apparently. I quote; ....."except of course management, which apparently have had their "shared sacrifice" restored". This means possible, likely, believable. Nothing that management verbally states do I believe, lesson learned from many years. As the old saying goes; "If AA management is claiming something is going to happen, believe the opposite."

AA management has created this monster, no one else. Upper management has decided to enrich themselves with pay raises and a $108 million bone-us program, and I guess they left the bottom of your management ranks out??? How rude. Maybe those in maintenance management got raises, and others did not??? All I know is what I heard, no flaming. Was it just lies??? Jeez, I'm so aghast. 😉 🙂

I thought you did not work at AA anymore?

I don't, and as with formerAA, I'm much happier after the change.

I'm still doing turnover with my replacement, though, and it hasn't come up in conversation yet, so I'll assume that there weren't raises given out in July, August, September, or October.

Nearly everyone I know with a family and a mortgage not in management is working two jobs, including a working spouse. The constant strain is causing divorces and separations.....mostly over money and deteriorating family life because no one is ever home. I guess some see no hope for improvement, and sadly end their suffering..... forever.

And I know a lot that don't work a second job. I also know others whose spouse does not work. In addition I know those that can't seem to keep their wallets closed. They seem to be ones working every second of overtime or working a second job becasue they have to pay for the latest toy.

Lets face it, even in good times working for an airline is a strain on the homefront. If you work maintenance you work wierd hours. If you're flight crew you are on the road a lot. And all of us have worked our share of holidays.

I have attended two funerals in the past year for friends and co-workers that have ended it all. Its hard to look at kids who don't understand what happened to daddy, and grieving family members who tell of hardships and the toll it has taken on them. Very disturbing to say the least. I wish Jim Little could have attended the services, to see what his lies have done.

I tend to doubt that the unfortanate death of Mr. Diaz is the fault of Jim Little. Chances are that other factors are involved. When one looks at suicide one often finds a history of suicide in the family along with clinical depression. It's very rarely one thing that triggers it.

Though I can't stand JL and the TWU crooks, you make a very profound statement. I have been aquainted to suicide more than once and it was Always dreadfully linked to more than one in the family tree.

I didn't say it was Littles' fault. I did have a talk with my co-workers sister, (not Mr. Diaz) and she did mention about how the concessions had harmed his personal life and his marriage. I don't know what caused his situation to spiral out of control, but the fact Jimmy Littles' sellout did play a part.

You seem to doubt everything I say 777, but we all have opinions as well. I'm explaining what I have observed and what I have been told in these tragic events. Nothing more.

With or without the concessionary agreement, people would have still lost their jobs, and those left behind would have still lost pay and benefits, resulting perhaps in the same harm to his personal life and his marriage.

Then again, maybe being laid off in 2003 would have forced changes sooner...

Personally, I find it abhorrant that people try to use someone else's death as a way to advance their personal agenda, whether it be people here using it to bash the TWU or someone like Cindy Sheehan who isn't worthy of the very freedom her son sought and fought to protect.

Very correct sir. People at Wal-Mart have jobs also. Its the race to the bottom, and the twu has assisted in that race for over 20 years. I'm not trying to "advance a personal agenda". I again will ask the question to anyone who cares to answer; "When will it be time to draw the line"??? When will it be "next time"???

I also detest Ms. Sheehan. She is not worthy of the blood her son spilled for his country. Like Jane Fonda, she can move anytime she see's fit, maybe the Taliban will make her head of the camel corps. I have been speaking out against the twu company union dictatorship way before the 2003 Industry Leading Concessions. Personal agenda??? Not hardly. 😉

Only the person involved can speak to the real reason. Everything else is just speculation. As for Ms. Sheehan, she is a mother, she lost her son, she has never spoken against her son, and only she can speak to the pain she feels and honor her son the way she feels will possibly help other mothers from experiencing her pain. I lost the love of my life in Vietnam. I would do almost anything to keep any of my children from going to war. Protecting our country, on our soil is another issue. Whatever the reason, suicide is a tragic out and a very selfish act. I feel so sorry for the family.

someone like Cindy Sheehan who isn't worthy of the very freedom her son sought and fought to protect.

Lighten up on Ms Sheehan. Sadly, the poor woman has earned the right to speak on her subject. Or at least has paid dearly.

However, as a combat veteran who damn near lost a son in Afghanistan, I might have a slightly different perspective than some others, and perhaps more sympathy toward her.

I don't buy all her stuff, but am reminded of Voltaire (sort of) saying "I may not approve of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

Concerning management bonuses. At TAESL they gave us the wrong presentation and showed us the wages for both the unionized work force and management. Union wages for the year was 12.7 million, management wages was 3.7 million and management bonuses was 2.6 million. Which equals just about half of union wages even though they only compromise less then 1/4 of the workforce. Shared sacrifice yea right.
