As of five minutes ago there are 8,290 fleet service clerks on the AA master seniority list and yes that is after all the layoffs and retirements.Latest information I can find on the US 10-K filing dated 2/22/2012 shows 5,800 in the fleet service classification at US.

Anyone have more accurate numbers?

Are all layoffs and early outs done at AA? For all work groups?
I thought there was going to be another round in February according to the M&E restructuring plan.
Looks like Airways is doing a small head count reduction so if we merge hope there will be no more layoffs.

I DONT KNOW ABOUT MOST STATIONS BUT IN MINE IN THE LAST 1 AND A HALF YRS WEVE LOST 15 FULL/PART TIME NONE OF WHICH HAS EVER BEEN REPLACED YET WE ARE SUPPOSENLY HIRING FOR 2 PART TIMERS OFF THE STREET

Sounds like those 15 rejected the opportunity to be recalled to your station and no one requested to be transferred into your station... might I ask which station? PHX hasn't called anyone is over 9 months, and I know there are nearly a hundred trying to get here.

we been told that there are no recalls the people weve lost are due to retirement, 1 injured forced to retire and 1 firing and the rest transferred out of my station the sta mgr refused til hire til recent

Since the merger is all but ceremoniously announced, how is the fleet service seniority over at US? AA is a majority of 1987-91. I am sure everyone is wondering what a DOH dovetailing would look like. Of course I understand once we throw the politics of the matter in,(fencing, red circling, stapling, good old boy club, etc.) it will be anyone's guess. Just curious.

from where I sit and what I have read it looks like both unions are fairly hated by both workforces, so you're right it's hard to say what might happen.
There does seem to be a lot of dissention by both with their respective unions. Fertile ground for a third union, through a card signing campaign, to attempt to be included on the ballot. It should be duly noted, however, both unions have been dragged through the bankruptcy process at least once with their existing CBAs. The end result is membership dissention, the misguided belief another union or leadership could have done better and doubt in the benefit of being union represented. I'm hopeful, for the future sake of the potential combined employees, this mindset does not prevail.

No doubt AA Fleet outnumbers US by a substantial margin. Both have an undetermined number who are dissatisfied with their current union. Add to that the number who are so apathetic they would not vote... who knows where were headed. Existing contracts that are shredded by carriers under bankruptcy law protection shakes the faith of many dues paying members from both unions.

For representational dispute purposes, all those who got laid off will be considered eligible and part of the whole. Before the layoffs, there were approx 12,000 FSC at amr that were able to vote on the contract. US AIRWAYS management certainly thinks the TWU will be the union it has to deal with. The IAM would have to get 50% showing of interest, or about 6,000 AMR workers to sign cards. It's always difficult to get someone who is laid off to sign a card so the IAM may have to get most of the 6,000 cards signed by the 8,000 actives. Difficult indeed, especially since the IAM has brought US AIRWAYS fleet service backwards since 1999. Gone from 82 stations and 8,500 members at inception to under 6,000 and only about 20 stations. OTOH, CWA organized in 1999 and advanced that group waaaaaaayyyy past where the I'll Ask Management union has shown. regards,

The TWU's new CBA is worse than the current fleet contract at US. And we all know two chapter 11 did nothing to help That., but you always seem to ignore that fact. And we all know how much the twu loves you Tim since you tried to raid them too.

Strong rumors the ramp will be twu and m and r IAM.

it has been reported the dbag company has reached an MOU with the TWU

anyone find a copy?

The MOU outlines the process to develop a combined seniority list in the event of a merger. Seniority integration between US Airways employees and American Airlines workers represented by TWU will be in accordance with federal law under the McCaskill-Bond procedures. The document also makes clear that the National Mediation Board determines whether the two carriers would become a single carrier under federal labor laws.

That's all that's out there.
