You do realize the Fleet at AA doesnt have a pension anymore?

Give me a list of the gains you are getting with this TWU merger MOU? I also would like for you to tell me what your % of gain from this MOU is, that the company wants you to swallow, compared to what you think you deserve from our Negotiotions we are in.

How would we be party to the TWU's MOU? I thought that even if TWU were the surviving union they'd continue to enforce the IAM contract we have currently until there's a new JCBA with the unified work group...

There is no shooting at each othe JFK.... This is all informational for those reading and nothing more. This company is talking out the side of its mouth with fork tongue ! Period! Its about value! i consider my self after all these years more valuable than a 4.3% DOWNPAYMENT on whats due to us before any other union language that doesnt pertain to us!

If you dont have things like Merger Protection then all the MOU's in the world arent going to save you from the TWU. Just 1 example.
Look around at the AA stations that are contracted and also have US on property. Dont you think it would be benefical for all to clean the Class 1/2 station language up?
There are countless AA stations contracted out. Many to American Eagle. If class 2 station language in our current US CBA isn't drastically cleaned up and nailed shut take a guess who's getting our work. There will be countless US Fleet losing their jobs to subcontractors like American Eagle. This is some of the "synergies" (job elimination) the company sees with a merger.

They should've gotten you guys on board before trying to slip us a "Roofie",but they they chose not to in the rush to woo the thoroughly pissed off AA unions and their standing with the UCC.

Let's see how quick they finish things up with you guys now that all of the AA drinks have been spiked.

No matter what happens they have a JCBA to deal with at some point in the not too distant future.
They have no intention of finishing things up with Fleet until they see what happens with the merger. If the merger goes through... they'll shift gears and want to negotiate some weak Transition Agreement with whichever union is the bargaining representative. In the meantime... the combined group remains stagnant with bankruptcy wages and benefits for quite some time. Presto! More "synergies" with a merger. Same game plan they used with the last merger.

You seem focused on negatives...maybe some of your mainline express stations would become mainline stations again when operations are combined?

As for weak language in any transition agreement, the fire must be lit by both sides now.We can not accept weak language from either side.

Dealing with Parker and company is a negative.

It is insulting to labor at US that he wont negotiate and settle with his own employees, yet he is kissing butt over at AA.

JFK I agree with you, if this goes down both groups are going to need to stand together or we both we get screwed

cltrat, why stand together now? As in the past, the Hubs and other class I cities will throw everyone else under the bus to make a few more dollars. How soon you forget about the past ! Its all about YOU, remember? And thats why the unions will NEVER be together as one !

Hope I was talking about the US and AA fleet groups but you feel free to make all the assumptions you care too about someone you don't know at all

though I agree with you about the unions, all they care about are the dues

I can attest to that, as I know there are still a lot of bad vibes left from those in the cities that were looking up from under that bus. For those of us that went thru it, the ill will won't go away for a LONG time, if ever.

Good day gentlemen, I read your replies and had time to ponder the discussion at hand. I think that many of you are extremely negative concerning this upcoming merger which can do nothing but increase our wages and strengthen our job security. While I understand that some of you are incensed that our current management has been having talks with our future partners, it is vital that you remember that this merger needs to be a success across all spectrums and all workgroups, as has already been discussed here , it is nothing more than common sense that they would talk to their future employees. The company's discussions with the TWU in no way preclude our own discussions which have been, and continue to be ongoing according to the information posted on the union board at my workstation. I am eager for our two unions to merge because where many of you see difficult times ahead, I see opportunity, this combination of both workgroups presents us with yet again another chance to strengthen our negotiating position such too the degree that we would not be able to achieve if we were a standalone carrier. I urge all of you to remember the contracts that our separate east and west sides held before the merger, both contracts were rather weak and the incentives were not as plentiful as we would like. I think that this company having gone through a merger now recognizes the synergies that can be accomplished when you have motivated and well-paid employees as evidenced by our monthly MBR and our workers commitment to doing our jobs as professionally as possible. While I'm sure the TWU union is not perfect, after giving the IAM several years in which to reform itself, having seen no effort or movement from the part of our union, I am prepared to now part ways with it in the face of a union that might be more amenable to its membership.

Dont sell yourself short. You work in a place where this company gave back about 7 weeks vacation back to their passenger service people and......shift differential of $.58 per hr. Thats because they also gave up in 2 BK's like you.

And for those who want to say its because of the CWA contract ?....im not interested because it doesnt matter ! The only thing that matters is what may happen tomorrow.

CWA gave up the COC language and withdrew the grievance for the snap backs.

Ill ask you this again freedom.... is it right that this chickn crap mgmt can free talk and make deals with the twu and other unions at ANTHR AIRLINE WHILE THEY REFUSE TO GET OUR CONTRACTS RESOLVED...... I HAVE PROBLEM WITH THAT THE PROBLEM IS THIS CLUELESS MGMT DOES NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH THE IAM I SUSPECT the company wants to merge freely give fleet to the twu the mtr to iam.... etc if we end up with twu then we have their contracts which in dougies eyes are better than our ch11 ones. for us it sucks period... for better or worse i hope we stay iam at least we have a pension..and other stuff that they dont have so go back and re read the twu ch11 contract compare it to ours....

no , no we don't have a pension , we have a fund that has too many liabilities , and TELLS us that it will be there for us "someday" but as I have already witnessed first hand , my projected pension has been cut in half ... so no , i'm not going to buy into the IAM pension ... i'm looking forward to my own personal 401K that only I can lose , oh and I won't have to "Share" my retirement funds with anyone if the Trust starts to run low ... Robbed , i'm not sure where your getting this information that our company is not having talks with our union ... have you talked to your reps? talks are scheduled and upcoming .... we have NOT broken off talks with the company ... furthermore robbed , if we did merge with the TWU , they would have to administer our current IAM contract until a joint combined contact can be voted on , so no , we would not be under the TWU contract in the event of a merger .... just so you know , if AA and US air merge , even if the TWU wins the union elections , both work groups have to vote on a "new" combined contract , just like last time ...... you should know how this plays out by now ...

ithen explain why this mgmt team made deals with aa deal to get them on board for a merger or not they had no flippin business making deals with any of them until they settle our contracts.... just bec the talks are comin up dont mean jack crap this company has no intentions of settlin with fsa any time soon perhaps 700 can explain it.... but in sect 6 now for 2 yrs or more ive been with this outfit for 14 plus yrs now and been thru the ringers as far as merger goes there would have to be an election for representation and i believe that the iam would win im glad to see you still dont have problem with this outfit making deals with anyone OTHER THAN THEIR OWN PEOPLE that goes to show how much they care for their own if i were you i would not be looking for a combined contract any time soon as far as the retirement goes if we went with the twu the one we have with the iam would still be there for when we retire but i also have about 10% of my pay going into my 401k thru fidelity to have that for when i retire but again ill ask you why is it ok for this airline to make back room deals with anthr airlines unions when they have not made deals with our unions.... that to me is a sign they dont intend to make deals
