Dec 2012 / Jan 2013 US Pilots Labor Discussion

I ran into one of our reps today at work. USAPA and APA are anxious to get the MOU out with USAPA starting roadshows for discussion.

The holdup is in being able to release info with the NDA in effect. The NDA is an agreement amoungst the 5 groups involved with the MOU discussions, so all 5 parties have to agree to release the info.

Of the 5 parties, USAPA, APA, USAir management, AMR management, and the UCC, one party is holding up approval for the release of info......one party that is opposed to the merger. You guessed it....AMR management.
breeze

Surprise, surprise, the one group that wants AMR to exit a stand alone so they can grab a chunk of it's equity then parachute into the county club. I've said it before, Parker may have his problems, but we could do far, far worse.

MEC Chairman’s Message - May 1, 2007
This is MEC Chairman Jack Stephan with a Chairman's message to the pilots for Tuesday, May 1st.
ALPA received a proposed LOA (letter of agreement) from management last week that describes their
version of duty, flight time limits and pay for A-340 and Boeing 767-300 aircraft. The very fact that this
proposed agreement was presented outside the JNC negotiating process—and at this time, while they are
crafting their first economic proposal to give to the JNC in May—is a veiled attempt to have us chase the
carrot. It’s inconceivable that management would think our pilots would take the bait. Our position is
clear: no carrots, no A-340s, no promise of flying to China or Japan will take our eyes off the goal of a
single, fair collective bargaining agreement. We are seasoned, determined, and will not quit until our goal
is achieved.
After all the sacrifices the Coast-to-Coast pilots and their families have made, and the daily fight we are
waging, we are not willing to fly around the globe—or anywhere for that matter—with fatiguing
scheduling rules, and we most certainly are not willing to lead the industry in setting an all-new low in
international widebody wages. Is that to be our legacy as the first post-bankruptcy ALPA carrier to
negotiate in this new and highly profitable environment? We think not. The era of bankruptcy bargaining
is over.
Negotiations for new widebody aircraft pay rates, and revised flag carrier rest and duty time limitations,
belong on the negotiating table. Your leadership will not engage management in back-door negotiations.
Furthermore, if the provisions in this proposed LOA are any indication of management’s first economic
counter proposal that we are expecting on May 8th and 9th, they might as well save their breath. They
need to understand that insulting proposals will not fly with our pilots.
Fellow pilots, I once again remind you of our three-pronged strategy. Consider the W.A.R. reports, and
the “Do Your Own Job” campaign, and make your stand public on the picket line. This is the marathon
we have prepared for. Our resolve is unwavering, and your participation is crucial to our success
The month of May will be a very busy month for SPC events starting with the America West Strike Prep
Committee picketing on Tuesday, May 8th, at the annual Phoenix Aviation Symposium. On Tuesday,
May 15th, US Airways Group will be holding its annual Shareholders Meeting in Philadelphia - there will
be details to follow. Most notably is the week of Rolling Thunder, starting on May 21st. For six
consecutive days, US Airways Coast-to-Coast Pilots will picket in six cities, alternating three East and
three West locations. If you are as disappointed as we are with management’s proposals at the
negotiating table, make your plans now for walking the line, and most importantly, follow all of the
Three-Prong Strategy. I once again call on our Captains to lead the way.
Help your MEC and JNC deliver our message to management. We've had enough, and we are united in
our fight for a fair, single contract.
Thanks for listening.

Displaced pilots from Air Bus to 757, at least you are on a larger aircraft and can make more money. Oh, sorry, all airplanes pay the same at america west. No hiring until the end of 2013 or beyond.

West Vacancy/Displacement Bid 2013-01

On January 1, the Company published the Vacancy/Displacement bid 2013-01 (click here), which closes on Sunday, 1/13/2013, at 1200 PHX local time. This bid displaces 8 Airbus Captains and 2 Airbus First Officers, and creates vacancies for 8 757 Captains and 2 757 First Officers. The Bid Worksheet is also attached.
The West Vacancy/Displacement Booklet (click here) should be reviewed by every pilot.
As this bid contains displacements, a few reminders are in order.
1) The Vacancy/Displacement process fills vacancies first, and then Voluntary Displacements, followed by Involuntary Displacements. Pilots holding Reinstatement Rights (RR) to the C5P position may choose to bid it using their RR. While such pilots may be slotted in to a C5P position during the vacancy phase of the award, they may be displaced from it when the displacements are processed.
If this happens, those pilots' Displacement bids will be used.
It is critical that ALL pilots have Displacement bids for EVERY possible position in case they are displaced from a position held only temporarily during the award process. If you do not have the right Displacement bids, you may inadvertently move to an undesired position.
Here is an example of what NOT to do!
You are a F2P with Reinstatement Rights to the C5P position. You bid C5P using your Reinstatement Rights. During the vacancy phase, you are slotted into a C5P position. But during the Displacement phase you cannot hold it, due to more-senior pilots being displaced off other seats. Section 24 requires that your Displacement bids be used to determine what position you can hold.
If your first Displacement bid entry is F5P, you may have just moved yourself to 757 First Officer!
To prevent this, your Displacement bid needs to list ALL possible positions in desired order. You should bid C5P, C2P, and then First Officer positions in desired order. This would result in your staying as a C2P when you are displaced from your (temporary) position as a C5P.
2) In this bid, the number of CA vacancies is equal to or greater than the number of CA displacements, so Captains cannot be displaced to any FO position. This is because 24.L.1.a.i says:
"If an equal or greater number of permanent vacancies are available in the same seat, a Captain shall not be involuntarily displaced into a First Officer Position."
This means even though some Airbus pilots may hold RRs to the C5P position, they will not be able to force any Captain to a First Officer position. Even though RR pilots may be temporarily slotted into a C5P position during the Vacancy phase, they will be displaced during the Displacement phase. See #1 above.
3) Voluntary Displacements.
Voluntary Displacement is a mechanism that allows a more-senior pilot to take a displacement that would normally be forced involuntarily onto a more-junior pilot.
Many pilots find the concept of Voluntary Displacements confusing. In essence, it allows a more-senior pilot in a position undergoing displacements to bid out of the position, thus allowing a more-junior pilot in the same position to stay in the position, instead of being forced out. The more-senior pilot uses the seniority of the junior to determine what he can hold. If the more-senior pilots can hold what he wants using the junior's seniority, he holds the award. The senior uses his real system seniority for training date assignment and monthly bidding purposes.
It's critical to note that Voluntary Displacements are processed before Involuntary Displacements. During the bid processing, there may be multiple opportunities for Involuntary Displacements to occur, so this also present multiple opportunities for Voluntary Displacements to be awarded.
If you hold a new position by bidding a Voluntary Displacement, you incur a lock-on. Since you volunteered, you do not get Reinstatement Rights to your previous position.
4) Conclusion.
Bid for what you want, using all possible combinations of Vacancy, Voluntary Displacement, and Involuntary Displacement bids. This applies to both Vacancy AND Displacement bids. Make sure that you have sufficient Displacement bids to cover the possibility of temporarily holding a position during the vacancy phase, and then being displaced from it during the Displacement phase. If that happens, and you wish to stay in your current position, make sure your current position is listed FIRST in your Displacement bid.
A proper displacement bid should have all the Positions available in preferential order. Even a current F2P should have their preferred Captain Positions above their preferred FO Positions.

The vacation shuffle bid, this allowed us to trade the 4 weeks of vacation we enjoy each year.

Are we sure there aren't SSN attached to that list, quick, call Bradford and She Leaman to file a law suit....

Whoops, that's another Cleary lawsuit filed against the union...

what's this 4 weeks stuff...?? The majority of West pilots get 31 days...that equals four weeks plus a partial week of 3 days, so we bid and get awarded more like 5 weeks, when you throw PBS at the 3 day week.

One strategically placed sick call in the entire year and you end up with a vacation every other month...

Of course we deserve more vacation when one considers the BS we have had to deal with since The east voted in the scab union!

hey Claxhole, know why the east pilots work for crap wages on Shiite work rules?

Because the company is being generous to the scabs!

I will post a link to an article about america west pilots being scabs, drug runners, id thieves, and scabs each time you post. Your turn next, scab.

Are you prepared to admit your SPOKESMAN is indeed, on the Master Scab List? The evidence is Irrefutable....which only means you'll create an alternate reality for yourself. You'll remain however, alone on USAPA scab island.
