This MOU is going to pass by a land slide. The extremely vocal nut job minority is well represented here. The fun is just beginning.
What do your Franke pals think you should play? Stay at AA or return to LCC?
Your testimony was riveting I must add. Amazing situational ethics regarding seniority.

I've read every word, some more than once. There is a lot that is really bad, and a lot that is really good. To me, the good far outweighs the bad, and I'm hoping that a 14,000 member strong union can fix some of the weaknesses in this MOU in the JCBA phase. Let's face it, everything is going to be way different than we're used to, from scheduling to benefits. That's going to happen no matter what. No amount of huffing, puffing and no votes will change that.

Understood. Everyone's got to go with what they feel best to do. With any group this size; it's hardly any surprise that not all of us are or can ever be universally agreed, one way or the other.

I want you to back up your statements with the qualifications to support your arguments.

Fair enough. I'm not much at flourishing pom poms, but I can read and reasonably understand the english language....You?

Can I assume you don't have an alternate plan and are content to merely complain about the MoU?

Previously asked and answered. Work on the reading thing.

To rehash: Vote the MOU down. Negotiate better, and both clean up the existing language and insert the needed so as to construct a concise, unambiguous and thus defensible instrument. Clear enough?

I figure this will pass as it is, and I do hope it works out well for everyone, but expect that it won't. Your actual mileage may vary.

You haven't answered a thing. You also haven't shown any numbers to back your arguments, haven't attended a road show, and I doubt you've even cracked open the booklet. So lets hear it east; we turn down the MoU and the company walks - what do you do as President?

Believe what you choose, as that's obviously an established gift of yours.

" and the company walks - what do you do as President?" Step one = not wet any pants and, under the current conditions, reasonably expect them to very shortly return.

And if you're reasonably wrong and they tell you to have a nice day but we're done with you?

This management has made MILLIONS with a divided pilot group. What makes anyone think they wouldn't do it again?

And if you're reasonably wrong and they tell you to have a nice day but we're done with you?

One must then assume that there's nothing in the way of the established concessions in this MOU that they very much want, and after the laughter subsides, additionally assume management offered any agreement at all purely on the basis of their warm hearts and generous, caring natures....the raucous hilarity attending that notion alone should then keep everyone in stitches for days. 😉

What's their reason(s) for so suddenly, now wanting ANY agreement at all?
Maybe it isn't them that wants it. Doug just wants to be the HMFIC. The UCC at AMR is steering this ship at this point. Maybe they have scruples and want to be able to project future costs. I've been doing this a long time, and if there's one thing that weak managments love it's divided labor groups, a first class ticket to profits and bonusses for them. Do you really think that it's a coincidence that every time there is a final solution to LCC's pilot issue they need a lawsuit to drag it out? Doug and Scott are the darlings of Wall Street, all on the backs of their employees. I suspect they already know that they won't be able to get away with it at AMR (or whatever it's called after the merger).

Upon a quick glance of the last weeks postings, this current drama sounds oh so familiar. Approaching the final voting day of the UA/CO JCBA, the rhetoric was turned up to max. The "no" voters being the loudest, angriest, most combative, and in the end the minority. There were many stated reason and excuses given, but it came down to a similar theme... the company needs this; you're an idiot if you vote yes the first time around; the company will be back with more money in no time. All the while no one was able to articulate a reasonable alternative on getting from a "no" vote to a better deal.

In the end, cooler minds prevailed. Many of us who were not 100% happy about the JCBA realized that every day we wait for a better deal, we lose more money than we will get in any subsequent deal. We also wanted to realize the advantage that comes from one seniority list, one MEC, and 12000 pilots speaking with one voice. It passed by 67%.

Not saying this is necessarily an apples to apples comparison. But the arguments are similar, and I think you are correct Metro, in that the MOU will pass by a very large majority. So why stress over it. I doubt the vocal minority will change enough minds to overcome an 80% yes vote. What's the final day to vote?? Feb 8th? How many undecided voters do you think are really left? It's probably already over.
