Most of the Gatwick service will stay intact too. The only cut planned as of now is 1 of the 2 JFK-LGW runs

Delta got to Heathrow, after 30 years of flying to the UK. The JFK schedule is odd since there is a day flight to London with an 8:00 return from LHR to JFK. The second flight is an overnight with a late 5:00pm return to JFK from LHR, really a schedule to allow no connections beyond JFK. ITs a start with 3 767-300ER daily, but a start with a high muntain to climb.

At this point you have to work with the slots you are able to get. The day flight out of JFK can be good, they are heavy on the premium cabins.

DL05 JFK - LHR 0805 - 2020
DL06 LHR - JFK 0815 - 1105

DL156 JFK - LHR 2055 - 0925
DL157 LHR - JFK 1705 - 2010

DL178 ATL - LHR 2300 - 1230
DL179 LHR - ATL 1325 - 1805

Just a few thoughts:

I am surprised that they don't swap out the flight numbers of the JFK-LGW (flight 1, 3)
to LHR. JFK-LHR should be flight 001. and the LHR-JFK should be flight 002.

I guess DL156 flight would return as DL179 to ATL and DL178 as DL157 to JFK,

PanAm use to have a daylight flight to London and it was a senior 2 day trip!
It looks as like Delta will do the same 🙂

Delta will have in total 7 daily flights to London next summer:

2 daily JFK-LHR
1 daily ATL-LHR
2 daily ATL-LGW
1 daily JFK-LGW
1 daily CVG-LGW

Delta's morning flight is going up against one AA flight at 0830 and two from British one at 0820 and 1055.

FWIW, they've since renumbered the flights. JFK-LHR will be flights 001 and 005. JFK-LGW will be 003.

Who is it (which airline) that you would expect DAL passengers to connect on?

There are several regional connections that a 1700 arrival from LHR could connect to at JFK, and also DL transcons (LAX, SFO, SEA, SLC...), plus Florida routes (FLL, TPA, MCO...)

Its a 5:00pm departure from LHR with an 8:00PM arrival at JFK, a little late for any connections.
