Delta held mini job fare at a local hotel here. They will be interviewing today for two full time and four part-time postitions. The CLT t.v.stations interviewed ex US employees who were interviewing for the jobs.

They hope that their prior experience would help them be noticed in the pack. Over 400 people applied for the six postions. So regardless of what is posted in this forum, there is evidently many people out there who are willing and want these jobs.

L4P,

True...people are showing up for the jobs with ASE...and the potential candidates you called U Employee's in those stories were actually former CCAir Employees (dba) USAirways Express that worked at HKY until the CCAir/Mesa combination killed off the entire thing. Basically , your story is mis-leading at best

DL using ASE in HKY with 50 Seat RJ's can become very very ticklish...as this city never seen anything prior with more than 36 seats...it was mainly 19 seat JS-31's during those days...and due to reliability issues..it was all to often a 15 Passenger Van to CLT to make the connection.

CCAir was its own worst enemy...and the coming of MESA and the wranglings with ALPA just finished it off for good....however . it was as it is with U now..the employee's are what kept it going , definately not its leadership

$$$, benefits? For three hours, all I heard was ACA in Hickory, like they were the airline savior. 10 positions, 4 ft, 6 pt...hardly a takeover. Ooooo, I'm shacking in my boots. <_<

I couldn't agree more with all the points made in the post, with one exception. I was not trying to be misleading. The two stories I saw interviewed "former US employees". I have no idea whether they were CCAir/ Mesa or employees from CLT. I will tell you that I flew in and out twice a week up until the end and did not recognize any of those interviewed. In any case I was only relaying what the story reported and did not mean to offend. (can't find a link)

And don't remind me of the that van ride. I can't tell you how many times we all piled in for the trip home at 11:30 PM or later at night. The employees, with one exception, were as good as they come in HKY. Those working the gates in CLT when it was CCAir were a whole other story. I think I may have written two or three really angry letters to US in my history flying them, and all of them may have been over the CCAir employees in CLT. And in this case it was clear, you got what you paid for.

And BTW, I am by no means sure I will be a supporter of this venture for three reasons. One its ASA, better know as America's $hitiest Airline. Two, it is a Barbie Jet. Three, it connects thru ATL. Time will tell.

I can understand your dislike of ASA and I can understand your dislike of connecting via ATL.

However, your dislike of a CRJ on this route is ridiculous. HKY-ATL is a pretty short route and the CRJ is the appropriate size aircraft for the market. What do you expect DL to bring in....a 767?

As for all the people applying, it doesn't really surprise me. Many people still view the airline industry as being a glamorous place to work. And despite the relatively poor pay at ASA, I'm betting ASA still has better pay/benefits than many other service jobs.

I used to work for ASA and the benefits aren't bad at all, they are actually pretty good considering it's regional. You jump to over $11 after 2 years, or 2040 hours worked as p/t. INsurance isn't bad, the company tries very hard for their employees. Only downside is you are working for a carrier that most people despise and bring that attitude to you, so that was why I ran over to US when I got the chance. Although HKY people might be grateful for service and be nice.

Why is it so ridiculous? The BJ's are the most uncomfortable thing in the air. No seat pitch and the seats are like park benches. At 6'4" I can not stand up in one, much less sit in a seat and open a book to read. Heaven help you if you can't get an aisle seat or have to go to restroom. The human body in not meant to bend in half back wards to use the head. And yes, a 767 would be nice.

50% of the time this is not going to be a one hour flight, by the time you circle ATL for an hour, or get diverted to GSP for fuel, or wait on the ground for 45 minutes waiting for a gate to open up. (sort of sounds like PHL doesn't it)

Give me a buzz bucket any day and I would be much happier

Wierd, my employment agency friend says that only about 10% of candidates coming thru are U employees. It appears U employees like where they are at.
