1. US refers to the entire country not just the former cropdusting services origins.

IMHO...I think DP is going more global not just USA. Therefore name recognition is key to success. Delta has that advantage over USairways. He's growing, not starting an airline.
Name recognition is also powerful within the industry locally as well as internationally. What airline name has more power and name recognition globally? If its already working don't change it...expand it!

That's YOUR opinion. NOT MINE. Delta has better name recognition over USAirways in Europe but it's not the better choice of a name for the new airline. Maybe it's time for BOTH names to disappear. BOTH airlines have a bad history for those that hate 1 or the other. And I personally HATE Delta. So I wouldn't step foot on a renamed USAirways plane if it displays the DELTA name.

You don't know me very well then. If US changed it's name to DL, I'd be flying CO, UA or AA instead.

My "stubborn ways" have worked to my advantage my entire life and I don't plan on changing.
