Delta will now offer Early Out and Leave Packages

Now this is very encouraging news coming out of the Delta camp. I really hope it holds true for the employees at Delta.
Kev., Are you hearing these kinds of talks from within inner circles at work? I hope you all are safe from any involuntary leaves, it would be remarkable if this all holds true. Even SWA is still leaning towards possible layoffs UNLESS passenger numbers triple by end of year.

Here's the article on SWA and passenger numbers;

On CNBC this morning, Bastain said the number of people taking an exit package was ~17k. Pilots have until the 19th to decide, so there may be a few more rolling in. Definitely good news; we’ll see how it goes...

Are you sure? First I have heard of that. Not saying you are wrong at all. This is interesting if true, some other guys may do it if what ya say is correct. If some could go at 55 without early draw penalties they may pull the trigger. Time to research...
It is true. Call your 401k administrator and ask about the rule of 55.
Its actually on the irs web site

I did some research on it and found to be true. Just the first time I have heard of the rule. Good, glad to hear maybe some more folks will take due to that rule without penalty to access a little earlier. Wish I was a bit older myself.

DEL - DUH wants all pilots to give-back 15% of their pay for a year, AND they went directly to the employees first, by passing the UNION !!

Message for BASTAIN; BEND OVER AND GRAB YOUR SOCKS !!

You DON't EVER GIVE-BACK a F penny, that took YEARS to get to the rate that you're at Now !!
Got RIF language ? THEN USE IT !!!

Hey Kev.,
Here's the numbers as promised. 28% or 17,000 employees will take the leaves, 4,400 taking retirement and 12,500 taking one of the 3 leaves, 6-12-18 months. GK said he would still consider looking at the month to month leave if needed so some more could get added to the totals even after tomorrow's deadline to pull out of the deals. I don't really expect any or at least very little will pull out. Can only hope this will save from layoffs, hopefully we have enough volunteers to hit the numbers they want.
These numbers pale compared to folks at Delta, but they are about the same % I think. Good luck over there at the big "D" hopefully they too will be able to avoid any involuntary leaves as well.

So Delta is wanting 3K F/A's to take a leave without pay, unpaid leaves? A bit curious why they are not offering partial pay like other airlines are. It will be pretty hard to get them to take voluntary leave without any pay. If I'm not mistaken our F/A's are being offered 1/2 of their regular schedules in pay (which come to around 1/3 of reg pay I think) I still not exactly how they are paid but I think it's normally by the trips or cycles if ya will.
Maybe Delta will change it's mind if they get no takers or low turnout, AND, they may make adjustments if/when the extension passes in congress. A partial pay, keep benefits, type of leaves will get way more folks to take it, if they really want to avoid the involuntary leaves they need to offer some kind of partial pay IMO...
