Okay, I've been struggling with this for the past week. I'm rather disgusted at how our vacation system works. So, I want to go to Chicago to be there for my uncle's wedding. (My whole family is going to be there, I haven't seen them since my dad died in 2003.)

I can't even schedule vacation because of this stupid workgroup allowance program. What kind of bs is that? When I worked for A-B, all I Had to do was ask my supervisor for the time off and he approved it. This is total bs, I feel like I'm being treated like a second rate employee. "You have vacation, but good luck using it when you need to!"

Forget trades. It sucks that I can't use my vacation time.

Think of it as very similar to the Dividend Miles program. You might have the miles, but good luck ever getting a ticket.

There is some symmetry there which I find amusing.

The vacation policy was one of the greatest changes I saw when I left USAir. In fact I decided on Tuesday to take tomorrow off, and I never once thought that it might not be approved. Granting vacation time is a simple thing to do, you just have to know how to manage it, and there in lies the problem, you need a manager!

Vacation time at USAir is used to bludgeon employees. Always has and the new management is no different. The beatings will continue until moral improves. My neighbors are always taking a day here and comp time there to do things with their family. Oh no, not us. We at LCC are the closest thing to endentured servatued in 250 years.

Our "Cheif Pilot" in CLT was overheard recently saying, "Reserves have no days off."

Don't know how it is where you are but where I am vac. is bid by senority. You can get or you can't. 22 years have never had a summer vac. Closest I can get is right now as today is "super Friday".

wow. that is even worse than what I have to deal with. The worst I see is -16 vacation hours allowance on each day I want off.

After 20 years, I got all of mine assigned in January. And the West guys wonder why we are so P.O.'ed.

There is a pervasive attitude about vacation.....after all we 'gave-up' @ 3 weeks of it under the bankrupsey deal, along with 1/2 pay for the first 5 days of being sick, limited swaps...what we really are is new employees...that seems to be what the current management expects us to be and accept it..forever...although our management never has any problem taking time off, working 10 hr shifts for 3 day weekends.....LCC= low class carrier.

It's easy just call 1-800-IAM-SICK!!!!!!!!!!!

Does *NOT* work if you are non-revving.
It does if you know how to work the system that they force us to work. Days off, day trades, sick days, dat days, day trades, days off, when put together in the right format work very well together. And it is all legal. Beating them at their own game has its satisfaction.
