Did jetBlue ever get the issue of this being a 100 pax a/c AND the required wheel-chair stowage issue resolved? In other words, does the new E-190 have a closet or another place to stow a passenger's wheel-chair ON-BOARD as required???

Curious...

Of course we have, silly. 😀

The first E190 is now on company property...I am part of the F/A certification group...and we just finished transition training yesterday. I can personally tell you that yes, we have seats for 100 customers (and can I tell you they're damn nice seats!), and like our procedure on the A320, we have an approved "stowage kit" that will secure a customer WCHR to the seats in the bulkhead row, aircraft right, displacing 2 customers. Bottom line, if the flight is booked at capacity and someone requests to have their WCHR on board, we leave with 98.

Hope that answers your question.

That's cool. I knew it had been an issue because of the 100 seats -- you need on board storage nowadays if the a/c has 100 or more seats; but if B6 took out a seat or 2, then the E190 would only have 98 or 99 seats -- and NOT need the on-board storage. Glad to hear it worked out.

Looking forward to riding aboard these beautiful new birds w/y'all. They kind of remind me of DC9-30's in size and shape and capacity...

😀

USAIRWAYS,

The E190 is certified for 100 seats. Even if two had been removed, it still would have needed cabin space for wheelchair stowage. They tried that little end around, and it was rejected.

I was referring to 14 CFR 382.21 (a) (2)
QUOTE
(2) Aircraft with 100 or more passenger seats shall have a priority space in the cabin designated for stowage of at least one folding wheelchair;

The 170 has a wheel chair that is kept in the closet up front. It fits perfect and I have never used it once in the past year and half. (nor have I ever used one in the 3 1/2 years at mainline Usair before I was furloughed. Has anyone ever had a need for it? I think that if one needs a wheel chair they should have space on the a/c just for that chair just in case they need it during flight(like the 190's)

The ADA requires one customer to be able to bring his or her own wheelchair onboard if there are 100 or more seats , even if the a/c has a chair installed.
