EAST VS WEST

Why do some think that the West is so highly favored out here? Money is being spent to improve PHL; routes are being added out of PHL to Europe. East is getting hte E190's. Where exactly do you see favoritism towards the West?

Look through our inflight magazine (a/k/a Phoenix and Las Vegas Convention and Visitors brochure), look at US Daily, look at how we'll be boarding airplanes in the fall, the loss of positive space spouse travel this past New Year's ("we don't do that at America West", said the memo), First Class product changes, the "de-branding" of European services, etc. I could go on and on. The only reason that America East got the European routes and E190s is that we're overstaffed...no new hiring to be done. No doubt when training comes about, the 5,000 US Airways East flight attendants will be indoctrinated into the way of the 2,000 AmWest flight attendants. Pretty soon we'll be told we have to embrace faux Spanish-mission architecture and cut down all trees in our yards so our homes look more desert-like.

Get over the fact that the old USAirways that lost tons of money, and was bankrupt twice is gone. Or, maybe you enjoyed being on the verge of liquidation?


We don't do faux spanish architecture in Phoenix, we don't all ride horses or wear cowboy hats, we have indoor plumbing too.

We live in a beautiful part of the world where its not freezing and sleeting this time of the year. Only bad part about Phoenix lately is all the people that have moved here and made us the 6th largest city in the US. It was much more fun when it was our little secret.

Gonna go hiking tomorrow, its a beautiful time of the year. 🙂

For one thing everything is in PHX as far as tickets to games, shows, etc. I have yet to see free Flyer tickets, Steeler tickets, Mets tickets. Get my point. East is much larger operation and it seems to get ignored. (employee wise)

Not bitter though... I could care less. It's my job not my life

Not gonna get into a tit for tat...the person who started this thread asked why their were anti-west feelings. I simply stated why I am concerned. After all, I (along with about 23,000 others) went through the USAir "cool northern efficiency" battle when we Piedmonsters were merged into the Pittsburgh way. They never listened to anything that worked for PSA or Piedmont. I worry that its happening all over again.

Now go hiking. It'll be 125F before you know it.

sky high states: NEVER LISTENED? Uhh, USAir added FIRST CLASS and glassware. Changed galley configurations, changed serving procedures to blend all the airlines together. Ohh, lets NOT forget your RAISE!
Past MERGERS have always created tension between the labor groups of perspective airlines. What didnt work, was the whiney attitude of those Piedmonsters who consistently said, "oh, well, at Piedmont, we didnt do it that way."
And, sadly, that lasted for like 15 YEARS!!!!! The "southern" employees bashed their own airline out of retaliation for the merger!
"Where ya based?" became the way of HOW YOU WERE TREATED.
The North versus the South mentality existed, and still does.

A thread is only as good as people make it. What makes no sense to one may make sense to another. I am guessing but if the founders of this great country didn't get po'ed where we would be now?
