EAST VS WEST

If this airline has any hope of surviving all employee groups must learn to work together. Otherwise, this venture will fail.

I think we all realize it will be a group effort and hopefully Tempe management will lead us. Do you have any suggestions that could help cement the relationship between the workgroups? Maybe we need offsite intergroup weekend retreats? We could sit around the campfire(not in az, as the state would burn down) and roast weenies? Could be fun, but we really do need some type of team building. I look forward to someday hearing I work for US and not including east or west clarification. The cultural integration needs to start being looked at closer and maybe they will take volunteers to work on this issues. Again, JMHO. I think philly was a good indication.

Tempe needs to organize Corrective Action Teams (CAT) for all work groups, with all levels of employees represented. The first action taken is to come up with a mission statement and then get down to the nuts and bolts of fixing all the problems.

Gap analysis has been going on for a while. This is supposed to find the best from both both sides.

One thing that would bring US together would be to re-integrate customer service and the ramp. Make it all the same again. That would eliminate the them and the us. We were combined at one time, where you could work in either function. When the unions came we were split up. Things haven't been the same since. I don't mean that in a good way either. When we were together we felt like we were a part of something good. When we were separated we lost the let's help each other to get this done quickly and right attitude. We need that attitude to return. It also gives an individual a change of pace by going inside or out. What a great stress reliever that can be at times.

If I was in customer service, and a passenger started screaming and cursing at me in an apoplectic rage, I would probably jump over the podium and pummel their head with my fists and feet. That is why I work on the ramp and not in customer service. 🙂
