EATS Onboard Food Program

Can anyone please explain why DL's onboard food program is called "EATS"? Is it an acronym? Sky magazine has a section referring to "Drinks & Eats." Where I live, "eats" is a noun created by corrupting the verb "to eat." It is poor grammar. The only people who use it are unsophisticated, uneducated people. Why would Delta, the world's premier global airline, want to be seen as unsophisticated and uneducated?

Seriously, why do you torture yourselves with such frivolties??? Lest we have nothing better to do? Enough of your whole "sounds like a southern thing to me" comments. Your innuendo is painfully obvious for everyone to see, as you often try to insinuate "southern" with those of a lower social class. Have you not heard the dialect of a native Minnesotan, or for that matter any native midwesterner? It brings to mind many things, but "sophisticated" and "educated" it is not.

Delta EATS is an inflight menu meant to make airline food more appetizing to the masses. Is it gramatically proper? No. But in this age of Mexican swine flu, economic meltdowns and other unpleasantries, could you not think of other pressing issues to concern ones self with?

It is not a frivolity at all. In the airline business, there is great importance on the image of the company and how that image is projected to a broad customer base. Why do you think Delta put so much time and money into the new, Richard Tyler uniforms and unveiled them at a New York runway show? If image weren't important, the cabin crews and ground staff would be wearing street clothes.

From a food perspective, have you ever seen a high end restaurant such as Ruth's Chris steakhouse advertising that they have "good eats"? No! They present a polished, high quality image. For that matter, I've never even seen Hooters advertise that they have "good eats".

The original question is valid, and the reply posted by "groundcontrol" is an accurate observation.

it stands for something than just adding the "s". Like those

I don't think it's frivolous at all. Small "frivolities" add up to big issues. This airline is becoming schizophrenic; DL needs to decide what kind of carrier it wants to be: "down home," or professional worldwide powerhouse.

That aside, if they were going for "cute," they missed the mark. Surely someone in marketing could've come up with something better...

I like that Dig, Sky Cafe.... Also, Use your Sky Miles for Sky Cafe promotion would be
