What's new

Election year 2020

Well KC, let me turn the table on you and ask, exactly what State Legislature gave their Attorney General the authority to change election rules?
It's none of mu business...just like it's none of Texas' business. But in the VERY rare chance the SC finds in favor of Texas (if they even hear the case), then 15 of those 17 states that joined Texas (including big ole swing state Florida) did exactly the same thing that the four states being sued did. So if they win, and because these 17 states were so concerned about it, it's only fitting that THEIR votes get thrown out as well. If that happens, Biden would lose 46 electoral votes and Trump would lose 94.

And FWIW, While 17 states joined Texas...26 states petitioned for the same writ to say they did NOT support Texas.

And Biden's also rob! In fact to the vary point I spoke of before which put both candidates under the 270 mark and through the election into the House! And in doing so the House of Representatives would vote on who would be our new President!

And the house of Representatives is controlled by.....??? So the house would pick the president and the Senate would pick the vice president. And since they no longer have to worry about who the president would be, Biden could announce that he is stepping down and name Harris as the presidential candidate, so you'd have Harris/Pence. Be careful what you wish for...you just might get it.

Well, the bottom line here is that potentially, the SCOTUS could through out the collective electors of those four States which amount to 62 electors! If that happens, neither candidate will have reached the magic 270. Now here's where it gets interesting! If that happens the election will be decided in the House of Representatives!....... Now will all this come to pass? ........ Who knows?

This lawsuit is not about eliminating electors or over turning a states vote.

I would not bet on them throwing it out
Texas already has members of their own against the actions they took. I find it awful funny the Republicans are going only after the states Biden won. I can only imagine what their faces be like in the event SCOTUS does toss it like they did before. What they are doing is clearly abuse of power. Judicial power. Undemocratic
What they are doing is addressing disparities in elections, between states as defined in the COTUS.

Oh but it is Texas and very other States business K.C.! If in fact they illegally overreached their authority as spelled out in the U.S. Constitution, it dilutes the legitimacy of those who followed it, aka Texas, and your own State of Kansas, which by the way is one of the 18 that are supporting this suit!

the thing is each state sets their own election per the constitution If TX were to somehow someway win (which is extremely doubtful) then obviously I can see the next election whereas the numbers of people to get out to vote will be far smaller bec of this circus $h~t fit this clueless administration is putting on. It not really fixing it for the better its more or less like making it even worse

Then if they win (they won't) but if they did....since 15 of the 17 states did exactly what these four did, should their votes also be thrown out?

But wait.... https://www.ncsl.org/research/elect...-1-states-with-no-excuse-absentee-voting.aspx

From that:

For domestic voters wishing to vote absentee or by mail, 16 states require voters to provide an “excuse” for why they will not be able to vote on Election Day. Some of these states do provide early in-person voting.

The other 34 states and Washington, D.C., do not require an excuse from those who wish to vote absentee or by mail. Five states conduct elections entirely by mail (Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Utah and Washington), which means voters do not need to request a ballot, and instead automatically receive one. The other 29 states and D.C. offer “no-excuse” absentee voting, which means any voter can request a mail ballot without providing an excuse.

That was as of May, and it was specified by a state legislature. Guess which 4 states are part of those 29 that allow "no excuse" voting. Oh...they put out statments about Covid and may have added some drop off sites...But that's not disenfranchising anyboy. It was available to anybody...Democrat or Republican. Republican's can't help if the idiot who leads their party was discouraging voting by mail.

O.K. The question at hand isn't about mail in ballots!........ And I personally am not in favor of them, but It is about how they were authorized, and who changed the election rules.......... .I have problems with how those ballots were authenticated also. But that point I don't believe that is part of what is at question here!

It also addresses something about disparities and states having issue with other states actions under COTUS election guidelines.. That is the issue. Mainly the horse crap they've created with mail in ballot procedures, I think. At least on the federal level.

What I linked said that they did not change their election rules. Nothing was changed. Only in Trump's mind. They added some things, such as additional drop off points, then again, Texas took action by REDUCING drop off points (without legislative approval), so THEY are as guilty as the states they are suing for circumventing the legislature. This case gets weaker every time I write anything about it.

And again, here is a decision that is remarkably similar to the charges Texas is claiming. My guess is that the decision will be just as short..
