The Senior VP of maintenance recently told union officers that Line Maintenance "SUCKS" (His words, not mine) And if mechanics don't like it at AA, they should quit....

What a great management team we have at AA..And he's one of the PUP recipients that the company just can't do without.

At least we all suck together. Keep up the good work men!!! Maybe if he doesn't like it, he should quit.

Maybe he should come down out of his heated/air conditioned office and work the line. See how bad they have stripped this company of it's daily needed parts. See how we go AOG for something that they should stock like Excitor Boxes for an MD-80, at a MD-80 base. Maybe he should come down and work in a driving snow storm diving the lav for brown trout. Listen to the passengers complain there airplane is late for a part, or why the seat back is broken because of the 350 Lbs 149 dollar paying passenger trying to back the seat go back more.

Maybe he should walk a mile in my Skydrol soaked boots, We may SUCK but maybe he should SWALLOW the last of his coffee and work the real side of maintainence, not flow charts and graphs but rivet guns in the docks or a flashlight in the mouth and wrench in hand and help change a AUG valve or a lav dump cable (since they always seem to dump there stuff on us)

Hopeful,

Sounds like you guys need to move your ...ID's.....SK's....FMLA's..up a notch

NHBB, I suppose since you are retired you can make all the suggestions you like whether they are legal or not. Just FYI, paid sick leave is mandated neither by the Feds or the states. Sick leave is not earned, it is granted. Under labor law, there is no protection for calling in sick when you are not sick.

And, some doctors around the country are finding out that falsification of FMLA forms and sick leave notes is costing them time, money, and possible law suits. The days of a doctor's statement being accepted without question are gone. FMLA forms because they are Federally-mandated are considered government forms. I'm sure you have read the penalty fine print about providing false information on all Fed forms.

There was a case (here in Texas IIRC) of a woman who was off on IOD for a back injury documented by her physician. When her company was able to obtain a photograph of her 15 feet up on a ladder painting the side of her house while she was supposed to be in so much pain she couldn't walk, she lost her job, had to pay back every penny of the Workmen's Comp, and the physician had his license suspended. That focussed the attention of other doctors who used to just say "What do you want me to put on this form? How long do you want to be off?"

Clearly this guys' attitude was inappropriate and wrong, but in advocating illegal job actions yours is no better. Both of you need to check your professionalism.

I am not advocating one. An illegal job action is stupid pure and simple. My point on top of sheer stupidity is what it cost them in fines. Pissing off customers and bankrupting your union are not ways to move forward in proactive positive fashion.

The APA never paid the fine AA let them off the hook with the last contract they signed.

Not that I wouldnt mind seeing the twu filing for bankruptcy.
