School shootings are rare. Even rarer is the need to overthrow our government. It's been that way going on 236 years. I guess it's too bad the confederacy didn't understand the concept of "bump firing"....if they had, we all might be whistling Dixie today.

I'll say it again, the US govt has plenty of enemies who would be happy to arm anyone who wants to overthrow it. Just like they (foreign govts) did during the revolution.

you gun enthusiasts keep saying we already have enough gun laws but every day you are proven wrong. You claim you have a constitutional right to bear arms. But we can change that right for you.

Our great military is getting it asses, arms and legs handed to them by iliterate afghanis who can improvise.

Because the 2nd Amendment does exist to allow us to shoot Bambi. These rights are not conferred by God but exist naturally i.e Natural Law. Our Creator (the "God" of your choice)tconferred these rights via the DofI and the COTUS and is crystal clear.

A PERSON killed 28 in CT. His weapon of choice was a firearm. It could have been a bomb, a car or any number of methods.

The solution lies not in restrictions on personal Liberty but upon better training and threat assesment skills in the schools and community at large. This is NOT a gun rights issue. It's a public/mental health issue. The ignored fact is that had it not been for the training of the staff at the school there would be bodies stacked up like cord word. This training needs to continue. Arming staff is a bridge to far. Having an armed guard is no condusic=ve to a quality learning environment.

Statisically these events are extremely rare. None the less the words of Thomas Jefferson provide an excellent starting point for discussion. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilence"

A gun is easily accessible, far more lethal, far more impossible to out run. That is why they are used. That is why people use a gun to rob a bank and not a knitting needle.

Instead of trying to change the narrative as you progressive wonks are so apt to doing.....why don't you address the main question of this entire thread?

If by chance Congress gets bogged down, by whatever means, to accomplish any change to gun laws, would you support the president issuing an executive order on the issue, bypassing Congress and circumventing the Constitution and the 2nd amendment?

REad close and slow...if Obama used executive orders to ban assault weapons....I mean semiautomatic weapons that can be made automatic by slipping a finger in a belt loop, then HELL YES I would support that.

Not sure I want to change the right to bear arms but I do want to place restrictions and requirements for gun owners so that the rest of us are not placed in jeopardy.

Not lethal. Guns are far easier to use. Far more precise. Easier to obtain. Not many folks no how or are willing to make a pipe bomb. There is a reason why people use a gun to rob a bank, mug people and commit all manner of crime as opposed to a pipe bomb. Limiting the access to guns does not mean there will be an automatic increase in other devices. Look at countries with lower homicide rates and tell me the increase in pipe bombs. Let me know what you find.
