If by chance Congress gets bogged down, by whatever means, to accomplish any change to gun laws, would you support the president issuing an executive order on the issue, bypassing Congress and circumventing the Constitution and the 2nd amendment?

GLAD to be the First to answer your query dell !
With the Exception of the Cops/Military, Handgun clips with (say) More than 6 shots (WHICH WORKED JUST FINE, back in the days of the 'ol Wild West, need to be changed, along with these assault weapons ! I don't know too many deer hunters hunting with an assault rifle.
So my answer (along the lines 'I' laid out), would be YES to an Executive Order
F..the NRA ! Those 'MOTHERS'..NEVER want to compromise on ANYTHING.

There can be no compromise on Individual Liberty.

What part oF, TtHE RIGHT TO KEEP MAND BEAR ARMS SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" do you not get. Recent SCOTUS rulings support this view.

In District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008), the Court ruled that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm, unconnected to service in a militia and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. In dicta, the Court listed many longstanding prohibitions and restrictions on firearms possession as being consistent with the Second Amendment. In McDonald v. Chicago, 561 U.S. 3025 (2010), the Court ruled that the Second Amendment limits state and local governments to the same extent that it limits the federal government.

They are reporting now that the kid in Connecticut did in fact use an assault rifle. By God...we've got the right to hunt deer with a freaking howitzer. I'm buying a sherman tank to protect me from road ragers. Where do we draw the line???

The good news? The rifle used performed exactly as it was designed to do. Guns don't know they are being pointed at 6 year olds after all

Friday and Saturday it said that. The article I posted was from 2 HOURS ago. And hey...gun rights guys....this video ought to give you all the warm fuzzies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bD213VW6WjY

How come in the discussions about why it's our God given right to own an AR15 to duck hunt with...how they "aren't fully automatic"...none of you has ever used the term "bump fire"? Watch this and imagine 20 6 years olds watching it from a front row seat. Then sleep well.

So you too come out in favor of crapping on the Constitution KC?

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Did our forefathers know how to "bump fire" a musket?

Did our forefathers know how to "bump fire" a musket?

From the start of the Chinese use of gunpowder and mankinds penchant for looking into more efficient methods of annihilating one another.....WTF is you point?

Because the 2nd Amendment does exist to allow us to shoot Bambi. These rights are not conferred by God but exist naturally i.e Natural Law. Our Creator (the "God" of your choice)tconferred these rights via the DofI and the COTUS and is crystal clear.

A PERSON killed 28 in CT. His weapon of choice was a firearm. It could have been a bomb, a car or any number of methods.

The solution lies not in restrictions on personal Liberty but upon better training and threat assesment skills in the schools and community at large. This is NOT a gun rights issue. It's a public/mental health issue. The ignored fact is that had it not been for the training of the staff at the school there would be bodies stacked up like cord word. This training needs to continue. Arming staff is a bridge to far. Having an armed guard is no condusic=ve to a quality learning environment.

Statisically these events are extremely rare. None the less the words of Thomas Jefferson provide an excellent starting point for discussion. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilence"

What is the purpose of the gun being used in this video?

EO - No. Neither Congress nor the POTUS will do what needs to be done.

And as long as "eternal vigilence" means that we don't DARE question letting citizens own a gun capable of shooting over 800 rounds per minute. Damn...in that video the school shooter could have taken out all 26 people in under 3 seconds. But....these events are are rare. You know what else is rare? The need for ANYONE to need a weapon capable of killing a couple of dozen people in under 3 seconds. So what the heck....let the boys have a couple of beers and "bump fire" on the opening day of deer season. You should see the look on Bambi's face. It's almost as cute as that of a six year old who got to see bump firing from front of the gun.
