What is the purpose of the AR15? Hunting for people who don't have many vacation days I guess. Bag the deer before work. OH...you mean that the purpose of an AR15 was demonstrated at a school in Connecticut? It performed admirably. Look at NYC, if you have an illegal gun, you do one year in jail minimum.

All gun bans do is prohibit law abiding citizens from having one. This also is seen over and over.

WHat about banning guns whose sole purpose is to kill as many people as possible in as short a time as possible? Do you oppose THAT? Keep your 38..keep your 44 magnum. Keep your 308,308, or 30/30. But ban AR15's, Uzi's and AK 47's? Any problems with that?

Can't speak for all states, but where I live you can't use a semi-auto such as you mentioned for hunting, only for target shooting.

I think you are going to find out that the rifle in question was in his car and not used. the first 5 hours of reporting on the subject only mentioned 2 handguns by name and caliber. It was only much later that the "M-5" style assault weapon was mentioned. When it came up my wife and I looked at each other and had the same thought....."Why did they know so much information about make model and caliber of the 2 hand guns for hours with no mention of any other weapon to all the sudden come up with a "m-5" style weapon?"

From what I saw live as it was happening the "assault weapon" did not come into play until the FBI got involved in the investigation. The sequence of events seemed strange in that regard. Guess we will see what info comes out, but it seems very political and would fall neatly into the "assault weapon ban" push we see going on now.

There you have the law as they are trying to write it. The blanket "assault weapon ban" will affect much more than just the AR-15 and others. Another thing the gun ban groups won't tell you. By the way the UZI has not been imported since the 1989 law change that banned importation of assault weapons and ak-47's are heavily restricted. the version sold in the US is not a true AK-47 like you would see in the rest of the world due to the restrictions. The AK-47 was one of the banned ones under the 1989 law but with changes as noted above they are still legal in modified form.

In 2011 only 8583 were murders by guns. The rest would be accidents. That means the Automobile killed more people by accident than guns did. It's total was 32,367 for 2011.

Also I pulled the gun murders for 2011 from the Gov't website for the 8583 number. So either 22,764 people died by complete accident with a gun or you got your numbers from one of the numerous anti gunning sites out there that grossly inflate their numbers.

Sure could. But how many shotguns hold 30 shells? How fast can they be fired? What is the purpose of the AR15 again? Nobody has told me. PLease telll me the compelling reason that any person needs to own a gun whose primary purpose is to kill as many people as possible in as short a time as possible.

I'll make a deal with you though....how about we pass a law that says that if anyone in your family is in psychiatric treatment, your guns are turned over to your local police department until such time as your family member is pronouced cured?? NOt pulled from care...pronouced cured.
