F/A agreement, list the concessions

OTHER than seniority, how many other sections has your group been able to "tinker" with and successfully close?

Since you brought it up, ask your wife how long it would take to get a revised contract to a vote. I'd be interested in her answer.

They are on the USAPA website. Go read and educate yourself. Also, go watch the crew news session where Doug says we won't get a joint contract until we have the SLI settled. That's all you really need to know......

She said that with this company and the way they operate, she could see it taking up to a year. But, she doesn't care. She would rather take the time to get it right rather than have a contract that is only a little better than what she has pay wise, with what she sees as concessions in other areas a for that long of a term. She is planning to go to finish reading the documents and go to a road show to make sure she understands the WHOLE thing. She said thanks for asking.

Check your PM where I've suggested we move this.

My understanding is that both these F/A groups work much harsher trips in exchange for more money.

I've never gotten that impression when talking to FAs from other carriers over the years. The one thing that stands out in my mind is that there are different flavors of Pref Bid, and some of them don't taste so good.

Let's be clear?

You want me to compare this TA to the proposal that an airline in BANKRUPTCY is offering their F/As?

Been there done that.

NOT TODAY'S REALITY.

So NO. I will not compare their late repeat of what I already endured.

Today's reality is that you work for a company who is making profits. There is no earthly reason that they cannot pay industry standard and if they do want huge changes in scheduling and how F/As fly, they need to create incentives to gain such changes, which by the way do not necessarily have to translate to pay rates. They could get those changes by improving my work life and establishing industry standard staffing, tools and rest areas. (Admittedly, those do come down to money).

But why, when they have a JNC that is willing to hand it over for free?

The only variable is whether F/As will read this thing for what it is, which is a pile of concessions with zero gain, just a shuffling of value cards, or they'll be dazzled by a less than $5 raise.

Please keep in mind that the very reason you're willing to be sucked into this is due to how bad our BANKRUPTCY contract was.

We are no longer there. You deserve better.
There are those that would vote any contract in just to be able to transfer to PHX. No thanks!!

Voting yes just because you are afraid that Tempe will not talk to us anymore is just nuts.
Thank you!! They haven't talked to us in 7 years. We've waited too long for the crap they offered. Why not give us back the 40% we gave up almost a decade ago and adjust it for inflation? No.. that would be SW wages. Too bad Tempe! Go pound sand! There's enough of it in the desert. 😛

The airline industry has restructured. In the best of times company's have 3-4% margins and for 2011 the industry including US Airways had a scant 1% margin.

A large portion of the F/A new contract delay was waiting for the pilots to close their new agreement in 2008, deciding on a scheduling system, and the "me too" clause. All of those delays were AFA generated. US Airways' F/A's got an industry standard and almost an industry leading contract. If the TA is not ratified against the advice of the MEC and JNC there will likely be further losses due to the time value of money with no additional dollars in any future TA.

Who wins if the TA is rejected? The Company because they will save money and the F/A's will have less Scope protection if a merger occurs with the current contracts in place.

You are truly the Neville Chamberlain of Aviation Labor. I've made a conscious effort to do nothing more than urge an informed decision. You stay on the Flight Deck and I'll remain in 2C beyond that. The decision to vote yes or no is not ours to make. It's THEIR contract and I respect that. Do I have an opinion? YES I do! When have I not! 😀

I've observed this airline for nearly 12 years and the one thing I will say is that at NO TIME have I witnessed anything other than a confrontational and condescending attitude toward employees organized or otherwise. You're so concerned maybe you could use your unique powers of persuasion to get USAPA to donate an amount equal to Your Union's legal fees to the AFA should a strike occur.

"I believe it is peace in our time." Neville Chamberlain

The definition off appeasement - "An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last." - Winston Churchill

Why will F/A's vote for the new contract? Because it's industry leading or near industry leading, the time value of money, people getting older, inflation, and scope protections. If it fails what would AFA do next?

When the company does a side by side industry comparison in front of the NMB what will the mediator do? Release the parties with a democratic administration? Attempt to force US Airways to give up more from a company who had a scant $100 million 2011 profit with energy prices on the way up?

The vote won't effect me either way, but I believe the AFA will be convincing at the road shows because it's not 2000 it's 2012. People are tough guys on the line and they never vote "yes", but at the end of the month when they're looking at their checking account balance "no" votes often become "yes" votes. And, if it's so bad around here why have people not quit and continue to fly at US Airways? Management understands this too...
