No one ever listens to me. I'm going to go out in the yard and eat a bug.
I'm going to try this one more time...
You can NOT determine the number of retirements by the retirement roster on the home page of the Flight Service website. The only retirements listed there are people who have given their permission for the company to publish their name and retirement date. If a retiree does not give their express permission, it would be a violation of the Federal Privacy Act for the company to put their name on that list. (How do I know that? I asked. I emailed the person who maintains the roster because the number of names on the roster did not match the retirement numbers on the attrition summary).
I hadn't posted the attrition numbers this year because no one seemed particularly interested last year. Total attrition (quit, died, retired, got fired) for January was 35 with 16 retirements. Total attrition for February was 39 with 12 retirements. The attrition numbers for March have not been posted. They will not be posted until some time in April.
If you want to know total attrition you have to go to Flight Service Website, click on Job Resources over on the left. When that page comes up, look over on the right hand side for a link labelled Attrition Summary. Be aware that they only publish a YTD total for Domestic, International, Total (sum of the 1st two), and Retirements (the retirements are a subset of the Total attrition, not a separate amount). If you want to know a specific month, you have to keep your own copy of the YTD totals and subtract last month's numbers from this month.
For instance, I extrapolated February numbers by subtracting the total posted in February (for January) from the current number posted about two days ago.
Now, some of you may have other sources that have different numbers, but ask yourself, why would the company post fallacious numbers on its own website? The company has nothing to gain by lying to us about the attrition.
