Does UAL vary the FA staffing for 777I by pax load? Or do you keep the 11-12 onboard always?

Thanks ahead of time from a AA guy.

With the average load factor, are they using around 12 like us? or doing more with minimum staffing?

I'm not up on the current staffing levels but I think last I heard it was 2F, 4C, and 5Y for a full load. That's for (depending on the configuration) 12 F seats, 49 C, and I forget what is in Y now -- used to be 225 but I think it is around 180-something now what with the F suites and expanded C pitch and Economy Plus taking up more room.

I am not sure if the Purser is included in that staffing count somewhere these days, or is on top of that. (At various times in the past it was 3F, 5C, and 6Y, plus a Purser.) On international widebodies, UA's staffing guidelines are always well above FAA mins.

Hopefully a currently active UA F/A can chime in -- I'm just going form memory and would hate to give out wrong info!

BEAR96 is pretty much right. Add the purser on top and you've got the Atlantic config staffed to his numbers.

For our Asian 777xp we usually just have 11 since two seats are taken out of inventory in Business for additional pilot rest area (beyond just their bunks) and the First cabin only has 10 suites.

Most of our monthly bid packages show base staffing at 9 for the 777 and then they add "extra stew" positions depending on days and expected loads. Last minute additions are always done the night before with Reserves.

The highest advanced scheduled staffing I've seen is our SFO-SYD lines with 14 confirmed crew members daily with possibility of one extra stew per day giving the 744 a total of 15 FA's onboard. Obviously since that flight is usually always full they don't mess around with staffing numbers and fill it up.

When I started at UA back in 2000 we used to have 18 FA's on the 744 and 14 on the INTL 777! My, how times have changed!
