Family Pet dog dies on layover in Detroit

Poor mutt. I sent a cat to Florida once via airline and the trip killed him. He was a good cat. Some animals just aren't able to handle the stress of the trip.

If you put me in a cage in the dark with lots of ambient noise for several hours (the first leg of the topic trip was PHX to DTW, I'm not sure I could handle the stress.

I just read where they found a bloody blanket with the dog. Could it be possible that the lower area was not fully pressurized?? Just a guess on my part...

No such thing as partially pressurized. If the cabin is pressurized, the cargos are as well.

Atlmech. HP did not transport live animals whereas US did. N then after the HP US merger US stopped transport of live animals. It restarted shortly after US AA merger. Im not sure if HP aircraft had pressurized cargo bins
