Just got our package today, feel angry and relieved at the same time. I like to share the following sentence from the cover letter:

"For most affected employees, this reduction in force will be no later than May9, however where needs of the operation dictate, the furlough and displacement may occur at a later date. Does that mean;

A. All agents will be released when the vendor is ready.
B. Perhaps leads and operations agents are made to stay while vendor comes up to speed.
C. If B is true how can they make us work side by side with the scabs.
D. Is this standard language of a U reduction in force letter.

Sounds like to me they will keep you around if they can not find a Vendor to work cheap enough. Only time will tell. But, they CAN NOT keep Ops and Leads working in station and have a MORE Senior employee leave. But I would not expect the Company to follow what little of the contract is left anyway.

As I think about it, I remember Terry Pope saying during an information meeting that if the vendor was not up to speed they would ask for volunteers to stay but that the date was firm. Also I can't imagine a corporation awarding a bid without a firm date.

i do know that on my cover letter it stated that our furlough will begin no sooner than may 2 and be completed no later than june 30. we still do not have a release date. and i also know that as an ops agent i will not show any scabs how to do my job. i will not even stay longer if asked to do so as it will not matter because my new job will be better.

We were advised by the IAM Rep. that the company can ask you to assist the vendor, but you are not required to do so. You are also not required to permit them to work side by side with you for any training. This was CLEARLY stated with Management present, and they were all in agreement on this topic. I can only hope that nobody is Dumb enough to make a smooth transition for the people being used to replace your job. Please remember that the Company had good fully trained and dedicated workers that they no longer wanted to keep onboard.
If the Company wants a disorganized vendor operation, let them worry about getting their employees trained.

Let the Al's train them....

at least we would be getting something for their salaries......

I,too, received an ambigious letter today regarding my last day. I feel like i have been told i have cancer and have 3 months months to live, but may live in agony, pain, uncertainty for many more weeks if not months.

I also sat in a meeting with Terri Pope from CLT who stated that they may ask for volunteers to stay on past June 30 but otherwise, we will be released no later than June 30.

I hope the IAM can help us on this one. I doubt it, they have failed me in so many ways!!!

ohh, i also forgot to mention....My name was spelled wrong on my displacement package! I have worked with US/PI since 1987 in various departments. I have been furloughed and displaced many times. I have never received a displacement package or anyother company document mispelled since my initial hire date. I feel completely belittled by the company 's little gesture to spell my name wrong. It's obvious attention to detail is not important, i hope i can keep my excellent regard to standards in the next couple of weeks. More than ever, i feel like i really am just a number, now with out a name and do we care!

anyone who stays on to help these new scabs and train them will be dumb. why would anyone want to stay on and help train the scab that is going to replace you? i know i will not.

Told today that May 9, is a firm date. That's what I'll tell my prospective employer and hope U doesn't screw it up.

Some Stations still don't have a firm date. The packets should not be handed out prior to this being established. You have to make a decision by 4/7 without knowing when the Agony will end for good. They most likely want to hang on to everyone until the 1/2 ### vendors can get their act together, or find enough idiots to work for peanuts.
