The fact of the matter is, since boost pumps rarely fail at the same time (and I would think both had failed), the plane was likely flown with a fuel MEL, away from a maintenance base. While the pilot and line mechanic were probably pawns in this, I can and do blame the admin type that made such a decision. Stupid is as stupid does, hauling around an extra nine tons of weight, just so Tempe can minimize the number of spares in the field.

This summer will be interesting, yet again.</snide>
 
Well...that's not exactly SNIDE in my book...these are facts...I meant SNIDE remarks such as these "Galley Show comments" or asinine comments.
 
i just asked because .i was coaching the flt inbound to mad on the 17th . it was a/c 245ay . and we sat at the gate in phl because of this fuel pump issue . they finally decided to mel it and max out the wing tanks.
