Focus Group Meeting this Week

Considering the fact that all of the int'l seasonal routes start soon did they mention why they haven't started the 757 galley "patch job" reconfigurations until recently? Did they mention why the 767 seats are being installed when the KNOW they are junk? I appreciate the idea of a focus group but the stuff that comes out of managements mouth is absolute BULL. I appreciate a bit of good news just as much as the next guy but c'mon. 🙄 You question these fools and your considered a negative, nasty, whining flight attendant. It's a joke. NO other airline goes through this to fix a beverage cart, pick a perfect cup, install seats on a rinky dink widebody fleet. We are so damn cheap. Some will make excuses while others will kinda smooth it over with a "hey watcha gonna do" attitude. I say screw em".
actually for what it's worth, united came to usairways to copy our inflight focus group.

Oh I'm sure United is struggling to find an appropriate plastic cup, garbage bag, or place to put a bag of ice. 🙄 Let US Airways lead the way!

I won't deny the fact that United may like the concept of a flight attendant focus group. I highly doubt that they would be as cheap as we are. It amazes me how three other airlines went through bankruptcy as we did yet afford to come up with the money for good service, tools for the job, seats, routes, etc. We are THE laughing stock of the industry and NO focus group will save us. It's BEYOND that.

There's nothing wrong with the focus group itself, just the sheer ridiculousness of the basic things they are discussing. I just don't picture a bunch of flight attendants in Chicago having to report to mgmt that their new suites dont fit on the plane or that the trash bags they use break. Come on.

I'd like to know how often you fly UA? When this merger happened, I thought that the grass was greener at US (for some stupid reason), but in the end, we always think things are better elsewhere and they end up being the same or worse.

I have been thinking about getting a Rosetta Stone course for Spanish (Latin American). How did you find the course? Could you give a quick review?

Thanks,

Jay

The Phoenix Public library has access to the Rosetta Stone courses from your home computer. Check to see if your local library offers this.

I surely hope you were trying to be funny. YES I have flown United and know of a few FF's who fly them quite a bit. Their service in EVERY cabin on ever route is light years beyond our service. What we offer to the customer for the price they pay is in NO WAY competitive with what the other Legacy carriers offer. Do YOU fly UA, CO, DL, NW or AA often compared to US? Come on now. 🙄

I fly United quite frequently. Our Zed agreement is great seeing as we don't exactly cover the earth (we barely even make it to Europe). Flight attendants, schedules, all the usual BS are pretty standard for the most part across the big 6. What we are talking about is product. You cannot even begin to compare the two in terms of business class, first class, food, IFE, service design, actually anything to do with product or overall branding. The same can be said of Continental, Delta etc.

If you really think that there is any airline out there that is even anything close to the filthy, pathetic lack of standards America West syle you are sadly mistaken. Get out of the desert once in a while, seriously.

I used a ZED ticket on UA to Sydney. I was actually surprised that the US East 757 has more leg room that the UA 747 had and that for a 15 hour flight there were movie screens in the cabin instead of personal tvs (like US East B767). So for the IFE on the aircarft, I wouldn't say that you can't compare it to ours.

Well it depends on the individial aircraft. Which US Airways transpacific large widebody are you referring to....?

Our A330s have nice IFE, so do their 777s.

Our 737s have nothing, theirs at least have audio. All mainline flights have IFE, at least audio.

And the biggest difference- there's a complimentary headset in every seatback, international and domestic. Stingy US charges $5.00 for a movie followed by Oxi Clean infomercials, even on international.

Our longest haul aircraft shares the 31" seat pitch of those 747s. US offers Economy and a dreadful business class product, UA offers Ecomony Plus, Business, and First as options.

I'm not saying they are great, I'm just saying they are in line with other US carriers whereas US is in it's own ignorant desert world. I think you would be hard pressed to find an airline customer who thinks "US Airways" America Worst product is better than United's or anyone else's. I wouldn't fly US Airways if it weren't free, and don't internationally unless I'm working it. ZED all the way.
