What's new

For Adults Only!

Depends on who they support. If they do not support the nomination and/or put their own extreme candidate lime Palin on their own ticket then I think the TP will fracture the republican vote. If they support a main stream republican candidate then the republicans could win. I think it will also depend on who the independents hold responsible for the debt issues.

You guys are a lot like the republicans who also have a hard time comprehending what is referred to as 'Tea Party'.

What's oft characterized as Tea Party is made up of dems, rep's and indies from all walks of life......just your average person who has had enough of DC's never changing baloney and who are going to effect 'change' over time. You know how one eats an elephant don't you?

Ruling class on both sides of the aisle will see their little bastions slowly slipping away in due time.

I do not know that either will go extinct. I think it is more likely that they will morph into something slightly different. I think the change will be more prevalent in the republicans. I believe that the dems are more centrist/spread out than the republicans. I would like to see the republicans drop the religious right (religion in my opinion has no business in politics) and become a little less right of center. Then I want to see the electoral college eliminated and a real viable third or even forth and fifth parties spring up and give us a real choice. I also want to see real election reform. The politician for hire system we have now is just screwing over the general populace and giving an advantage to corporations.

And the lobbyists!! The scourge of political corruption.
A few years back, lobby reform was a big campaign promise. Of course nothing happened so 'we' gave up.

I think this is going to get interesting. The WH just introduced a debt offer that includes cuts to entitlements which are sacred to Dems but it also included tax increases. The republicans are balking and I think it will be their down fall. The WH finally realized that it's going to take cuts in spending and increases in revenue to solve this disaster. The republicans seem to be late tot he game as always. Obama is setting him self up for a win-win. If republicans cave, it was his idea and he made sacrifices. If the republicans decline it and we default, he can say he tried but the republicans did not want to face reality. Ballsie move on Obamas part. I wonder if the dem leadership was on board with this from the get go or if Obama had to get them to pull their head out of their butts to get this to work?

I bet Norquist is not having a good day.

Lets look at the facts rather then what liberals are been spoon fed by the MSM.

Fact: Democrats had congressional majority for 2 years prior, yet they wait until 11th hour to use debt as political football. This is leadership?

Fact: Obama says "There is simply too much debt on the nation's credit card." So his solution is to raise the credit limit?

Fact: The Republicans have passed a plan with bipartisan support, which is more then what the democrats have accomplished.

Fact: The democrats have offered nothing.

But what we do know is they want to A: Raise taxes and B: Increase spending.

Looks like Boehner has taken his ball and gone home.

I wonder if he was crying?

Article

From the looks of Obama's press conference it was he who was crying. Good for Boehner to walk away. This is all on Obama.

Full text of the letter:

Dear Colleague,

Our economy is not creating enough jobs, and the policies coming out of Washington are a big reason why. Because of Washington, we have a tax code that is stifling job creation. Because of Washington, we have a debt crisis that is sowing uncertainty and sapping the confidence of small businesses. Because of Washington, our children are financing a government spending binge that is jeopardizing their future.

Since the moment I became Speaker, I’ve urged President Obama to lock arms with me and seize this moment to do something significant to address these challenges. I’ve urged him to partner with congressional Republicans to do something dramatic to change the fiscal trajectory of our country. . .something that will boost confidence in our economy, renew a measure of faith in our institutions of government, and help small businesses get back to creating jobs.

The House this week passed such a plan. . .the Cut, Cap & Balance Act, which passed the House with bipartisan support.

Along with Majority Leader Cantor, I have also engaged the president in a dialogue in recent days. The purpose of this dialogue was to see if we could identify a path forward that would implement the principles of Cut, Cap, & Balance in a manner that could secure bipartisan support and be signed into law.

During these discussions – as in my earlier discussions – it became evident that the White House is simply not serious about ending the spending binge that is destroying jobs and endangering our children’s future.

A deal was never reached, and was never really close.

In the end, we couldn’t connect. Not because of different personalities, but because of different visions for our country.

The president is emphatic that taxes have to be raised. As a former small businessman, I know tax increases destroy jobs.

The president is adamant that we cannot make fundamental changes to our entitlement programs. As the father of two daughters, I know these programs won’t be there for their generation unless significant action is taken now.

For these reasons, I have decided to end discussions with the White House and begin conversations with the leaders of the Senate in an effort to find a path forward.

The Democratic leaders of the House and Senate have not been participants in the conversations I and Leader Cantor have had with the White House; nor have the Republican leaders of the Senate. But I believe there is a shared commitment on both sides of the aisle to producing legislation that will serve the best interests of our country in the days ahead – legislation that reflects the will of the American people, consistent with the principles of the Cut, Cap, & Balance Act that passed the House with bipartisan support this week.

I wanted to alert you to these developments as soon as possible. Further information will be coming as soon as it is available. It is an honor to serve with you. Together, we will do everything in our power to end the spending binge in Washington and help our economy get back to creating jobs.

Sincerely,

John Boehner

What a bunch of differing clap trap. Reaganomics has been trickling down our backs for years and now we are the worse for it. Best if we just purge these plutocrats and start over.

Your solution is to raise taxes and keep spending?

Sounds like you have been spoon fed.

Cowflop Goulash must taste great when it comes back up for posting.
On the contrary the MSM cowflop that you subscribe to keeps waving around that the USA is to run out of money and default. That couldn't be further from the truth.

Money is still coming in to the treasury, but due to the rampent spending by previous administrations and accelerated greatly by this administration, spending has greatly surpassed revenue. So there's two paths that can be taken. Raise the debt limit and raise taxes like the democrats want. Or trim spending and increase more tax payers like the republicans want.

Which path leads to prosperity?

How about cutting spending and raising taxes to what Reagan had when he was POTUS.

How about cutting spending and raising taxes to what Reagan had when he was POTUS.
If you are going to tell that story, then you should tell it truthfully.

When Reagan was negotiating with the democrats (who had both houses) he struck a deal with them that he would agree to raise taxes only if they would cut spending 3 to 1. The democrats agreed. However the democrats never did go thru with the spending cuts they promised. Reagen regretted that deal with them.

The very same thing happen to Bush Sr in his "No New Taxes" pledge. He was duped by the same trick. Taxes increased, spending cuts never happened.

BTW that's yet another myth pushed by the liberal MSM.

You must have missed his conference.........tough dealing with a child like Obama, so he'll work with Senate......Obama hasn't offered anything.

Looking like Boehner dressed Obama down somewhat like Bibi did....LOL

The interest on the debt that comes due Aug 2nd is 29 billion. There is plenty of money via revenue come Aug 2nd. There is no "default". There is no "running out of money" either. They will have to prioritize. That simple.
