With FEDEX reportedly in the hunt to replace their gas guzzling 727's, the 737 rumor makes sense. Now it becomes easier. Were there fragmentation issues that prevented this from happening in the past? That is of course, if this was not just a rumor. Just wondering...

That's your answer.....if you remember this was hashed over to pieces with a newbie “ratboyâ€￾ saying it was gospel. It's no different then that link....idle minds creating fantasy.

rumor holds merit, especially if you are gecas and leased the planes to U at bargain basement rates last BK go around.
supposed sightings of fed-ex people along with elvis were reported in pit looking over some a/c in the hangars . even was reports of fed-ex personell attending 737 genfam at U's vaunted training center also.
recent reports by one of our sage pilots led us to believe this was a dead duck however...as fed-ex was supposedly looking into md-11 or 80's.
recently the esteemed airline magnate,dr.david bronner was reportedly hinting at a fleet reduction to around 150 a/c.....
BK and some forced negotiations will be the time to achieve these contract mod's.
so stay tuned!

Ok, I'll re-phrase the question. Would current fragmentation language prevent such a sale? Or would such a sale be permitted, but only with the transfer of pilots?

Better? 😉

Can you imagine going to bed one night an employee of Usair and waking up the next morning working for FEDEX.....how sweet!

😀 Sweet..........

If anything with FedEx is up, I'd pay close attention to the 2 following parts of the new pilot T/A

(From another thread)
Here are the highlights, according to my source.

-Fragmentation does not apply during ch 11 and 1 year after.
-Min a/c - void during Ch 11 and out till 1 year after Ch 11 exit.

Lakefield's already burning the furniture. This TA will make it easier to start burning the bed linen and inside walls. If U survives past December, look for a lot of aircraft to go away and a lot of routes sold as U grinds to a halt.

Current:

1. There are restrictions
2. Yes, pilots would have to go

TA:

1. No
2. No

ok, thanks.

If by some stroke of magic the pilots were to leave with the 737's and end up at FedEx that they would hold some type of seniority above the pilots that already work there? HA!!!!!!!! Your dreaming..

FedEx has absolutely no interest in taking anyone from US Airways.. They have an interest in the aircraft, they have plenty of pilots to fly them. Keep in mind that as the 737's arrive at FedEx the 727's will leave..

FedEx will not take any "active" pilots at US Airways; furloughed yes, active no. The only reason I know this is because I have numerous friends at FedEx that tried to get me an interview only to be told this from the Chief Pilot Jack Lewis if he's active US Airways I cannot look at his resume. It is FedEx company policy not to interview active or furloughed pilots at any of the other major carriers except US Airways furloughed. I did hear one of our Mid-Atlantic pilots was recently hired...sweet indeed. Why is FedEx like this? Seems back in the early 90's they hired a few hundred furloughed American Airline pilots ; eventhough these guys renounced their seniority at AA the AA chief pilot did not file the letters in their files. A few years later they were subsequently called back to American left FedEx in the lurch; and pissed off. Really dumb move. A dumb move that continues to cost active duty and furloughed major airline pilots everywhere. Mr. Lewis alluded to my friends that all pilots at the majors have "had their big career chance" they want to give the jobs to those pilots who have not had a shot at the majors. They place the applicants in "three buckets": bucket one is pilots that have not been at the majors; bucket two is pilots that have been furloughed, bucket three is active major airline pilots. They rarely get to bucket two. So, if you are a commuter guy or military about to be discharged have a lot of PIC time and have a friend to sponsor you at FedEx go for it. It seems FedEx wants em' hungry and not 'tainted'.
