From A Mec Rep

no one is eager to accept concessions...once again, it is only the union leadership that has refused concessions...the membership has not had a voice...so you could argue that alpa is at least trying to act responsibly, whereas iam is being irresponsible!

and by the way, it was alpa who basically booted siegel out...how smart was that? and look the next guy has the same plan...genius...

Your poor boy from Alabama may lose face on this investment. Bad for you guys  But good to see the Lorenzo types lose too

USA320pilot,
the bottom line is this. I talked to a pilot on the ramp today. He seemed to fully understand all the possible consequences. But, he said he has given enough and will not willingly give more. He was willing to risk whatever the outcome may be. He also mentioned, and I agree with him, that there would be nothing preventing the company from gutting any agreement you make once they go into CH11 anyway. So what is the point?

The major point is rhis:

Management can't abrogate agreements or gutt them. The company files a motion for abrogation. Labor, once again, has an opportunity to negotiate agreements...AND BOTH PARTIES MUST OPERATE IN GOOD FAITH UNDER THE WATCHFUL EYE OF A BK JUDGE. No Shananigans.

Hope you all have been reading what is going on over at United. The BK judge, from the most recent articles, has told UAL managment to start building a bridge with labor "OR ELSE".

The key point is every ALPA advisor briefed the MEC on the ramifications of the RC4 action, not Garland Jones. The advisor comments were made in "open session" and I heard them.

Jones wrote, "According to our legal and financial advisors, our entire contract in now in grave jeopardy, including Scope (alter-ego airlines flying our A-320's), Fragmentation Protections (at 15% trigger, the best in the industry), and Seniority Rights (thus allowing a furlough out of seniority, according to equipment type)."

Today the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette wrote, "That could explain why emotions ran so high at Monday's meeting. When it adjourned at 10:30 p.m., pilots "screamed" at the Pennsylvania representatives and took pictures of them as they left a meeting room at the Key Bridge Marriott in Arlington, Va.

"It was really, really ugly," (Charlotte F/O Rep Lance) Svendsen said. "People lost control."

Pittsburgh pilot representative Fred Freshwater, one of the four who did not want the proposal sent out, accused his union colleagues yesterday of "orchestrating" the Monday melee and maintained that the union's decision does not increase the likelihood of a bankruptcy filing.

Complete Story

PIT Captain Rep Fred Freshwater and PHL F/O Rep Dan Von Bargen are both part of the RC4 and are suing ALPA for the loss of the DB pension plan. When these two men are at a MEC meeting are they the plaintiff or representative?

Furthermore, if you vote to send out an agreement that reduces your retirement, how can you win a multi-million dollar lawsuit?

I guess it does not matter what happens to an airline, 28,000 employees, and their families, as long as you win the lawsuit.

Does anybody see a conflict of interest and immoral activity here?

Pilots who behave in this emotionally unstable manner, and who "lose control" bring shame to the profession and have no business flying.

This is pathetic.

Dilligas, these guys were a bunch of pansies!! Heck the old Mohawk and Allegheny guys used to throw chairs at each other. Manly men.;)

YAH, I am reading it right now. You have a conflict of interest and are immoral in your inflammatory remarks.

NO!

PitBull:

If Freshwater and Von Bargen vote for a DC Plan pension reduction then they cannot claim ALPA was at fault for agreeing to a pension reduction for the DC plan.

Just one more point...

In regard to immoral activity, Fred Freshwater and John Brookman led the recall of Pittsburgh Captain Rep Tim Baker because Baker voted to terminate the DB pension plan and did not permit the rank-and-file to vote.

Furthermore, Freshwater and Brookman ran their campaign on never allowing this to occur again if they won the election (see Freshwater’s website www.justplanesense.com for the report).

What’s interesting is that these two men who are part of the RC4 are hypocrites because they are using the roll call to block the membership their right to vote on their careers. Why these two men know the company’s proposal would pass and then Freshwater would lose his multi-million dollar lawsuit as the plaintiff against ALPA.

Last night at the MEC meeting Brookman challenged the chair and said that the union could only send out a TA. But ALPA attorney Jeff Small and Mike Abrahm said a company proposal could be sent out for membership approval and just last December the MEC passed a resolution strengthining this language in the policy manual.

How could Mr. Honorable John Brookman forget this and be ruled out of order by the MEC Chairman.

Moreover, tonight on Pittsburgh TV station WPXI Brookman said he never knew if there was a deal (paraphrased). Right John. Are you trying to do the Texas two-step and cover your arse?

Me thinks so…

C'mon, USA320. The PA reps still have a maind set to send the neg. committee back to the table for an agreeement that reperesents the interest of the majority.

AFA is doing what ALPA is attempting to do. Trying to negotiate in good faith under no threats or deadlines (as the company promised when AFA voted to go to the table back in May) a T/ A that is ratifiable.

Can't just send out S&%$ as a T/A to the membership just because the co., once again, starts with the damn deadlines.
