What's new

Fun contest! Guess where NWA's next "incident" will be!

As I was stuffing a burger in my mouth in the F concourse, I noticed something unusual.... a DC10... at this time of day?
Far as I know, HNL flt delayed 7 hrs... still there, I dunno.

Apparently, it left at 2020 lcl (schedule is 1140 lcl). nwa.com says the delay was due to "waiting for an inbound aircraft."

I guess that's what happens when you only have 3 left......

We have a winner!

On 12/14, NW1096 from CUN-DTW diverted to CMH due to a hydraulic failure. The status is on NWA.com. I haven't looked at the Columbus Dispatch yet. Apparently FIS was already closed in CMH and they had to wait about 3 hours for them to come back to the airport to clear the pax before they could be put on a flight to DTW.

With the recent occurances of "normal" emergency landings, aborted takeoffs, diversions, etc. that NWA has encountered in the past few weeks, I thought that it would be a good idea for someone to start a thread in which we could speculate where the next "incident" will happen.

Here's the guidelines for this contest:

1) pick the airport where you think the incident will occur,

2) the person who's location is closest to the actual incident location is the winner.

That's it!

The only prize that the winner will receive is the satisfaction of knowing that they were not on that flight! 😀

Since I started the thread, I will make the first guess...

OK, now you guys are scaring me! Some of us have to commute to work on NWA you know!

How about that! In my own backyard yet! Well I guess I'll stick with my last projection and go with MIA and smoke yet again in the cabin.

I work for NWA. I was peed with this thread but I got use to it. You know, my philosophy is that live everyday to your fullest because tomorrow can be your last. Could die from a car accident, a robbery at your local Mapco, mugged on the metro...... I could slide on some ice and my car can flip...

so my next guess will be Austin.

This is just my educated opinion Jenny, not ment to be insulting. I know what goes on at money strapped carriers , and I can only imagine what goes on at Scab Air. It would give me nightmares to think I have to regularly fly on a DC-10 or DC-9 overhauled by China and then maintained by scabs.

You have to do, what you have to do......but I would be looking hard for another job if it was me.

Next guess, JFK.

I just think of it as Russian Roulette.

Sorry that I haven't been able to contribute to this forum much lately, but I am just getting settled in at my new job with Comair in CVG.

Anyway, back to the topic...the winner of this round with their guess of FLL is robbedagain. (Don S. came in a close second with his guess of MIA.)

Warning Light Forces Airliner Back To JIA

UPDATED: 5:45 pm EST December 22, 2006

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Northwest Airlines DC-9 was delayed by four hours after making a precautionary landing at Jacksonville International Airport 45 minutes after it had taken off for Detroit.

Fire trucks lined the runway as Flight 1581 landed just before 1 p.m., Channel 4's Jim Piggott reported. Airport officials said the pilot reported having an engine oil filter warning light come on.

The 96 passengers waiting while mechanics made repairs and cleared the plane to take off again.

According to the airline's Web site, the flight was expected to depart at noon, but actually took off at 4:07 p.m. EST, expected to arrive in Detroit at 6:19 p.m. CST.

After Detroit, the flight was scheduled to continue on to Midway Airport in Chicago.

The precautionary landing added more congestion to an already-heavy travel day at JIA, but most of the waiting passengers took it in stride.

"It is delayed right now, but it's OK," one passenger said. "We will be home for the holidays, so it's OK."

Other than a 40-minute wait to get through security, the biggest hassle for air travelers was parking, as even the economy lots were full and people were directed elsewhere.

My guess for the next round will be IND.
