I agree with you statement on hate crimes although I do not see any correlation between that and marriage equality.
 
I am crrious about your position on marriage.  I have not seen you speak out against the change in traditional marriage which allowed interracial marriage.  That was achieved by court order not a the ballot box.  I have not seen you speak out against the change in traditional marriage which went from one of  property/power/alliance  to one of love between two people.  This does not even touch the fact that the divorce rate between hetero in the US is around 50%.  We should ban divorce.  That would certainly bolster the sanctity of traditional marriage.
 
Seems the only tradition you are concerned about it the one about a man and a woman.  Who gets to decide what part of traditional marriage gets to be saved?  The COTUS certainly does not address it.  All it says is that laws must treat all people equally.  I know that is a petty issue for you but some people actually take the COTUS seriously.

I don't.  I also do not that it was not done by the Fly Spaghetti God, Zeus or who ever else anyone believes in.  Since there is biological evidence to prove that evolution does occur, there is geological evidence of how the earth was formed and is changing and there is no evidence at all of any supernatural being I'm going to go with science.  When someone can present some evidence to support an alternative I'm all ears.

I guess no one could possibly change their mind on an issue over the course off , lets say 14 years?  Granted anytime a politician changes their mind the reason is always suspect.  Having said that, I know I have had a change of heart of a great many things over the course of my life time.  I see no reason why that should not apply to other people as well.
 
Congress person Portman has a gay child and is now in favor of marriage equality?  The reasoning behind his change of heart seems to be quite clear.  Is he to be held to that same standard?
