I know this is different: private sector vs. government. But let the games begin:

Muslim flight attendant says she was suspended for refusing to serve alcohol

(CNN)—A Muslim flight attendant says she was suspended for refusing to serve alcohol in accordance with her Islamic faith.

In a bid to get her job back, Charee Stanley filed a discrimination complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Tuesday for the revocation of a reasonable religious accommodation.

WTF. The airlines have always served booze. They served booze when she got hired. If she can't do her job then find a different phucking job. Geez. why is this so hard to understand?

Newsom also wasn't breaking the law in order to discriminate, but to be all inclusive. Davis is using her religion as a reason to discriminate, all while defying multiple court orders. When Obama does things the right doesn't like they complain about him trampling all over the constitution; when Davis does it, they claim it's her religious freedom. Ironic that her argument is based on her 1st amendment rights, which is in the same document that she is violating by denying citizens their 14th amendment right.

And they want the Gov to sign an executive order to fix it. So much for consistency.

Interesting that radical Islamic fundamentalists are fighting for their own "God's Law".

Not many realize how similar Kim Davis is to those same people wanting to implement their own gods law (Sharia law).

I am glad that our founding fathers had the forethought to stop this.
So true. Thank the founding fathers and our Constitution.
- Preamble: "We the people ..." No gods needed.
- Article VI: No religious test for any office or public trust.
- 1st Amendment
- 1797 Treaty of Tripoli ("The government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion."): Submitted to the Senate by President John Adams and ratified unanimously by the Senate.
- Thomas Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptists in 1802: Where he states the 1st amendments free exercise and establishment clauses built a wall of separation between church and state.

Can go on and on ...

I have been told I am un-American when I stick up for our secular Constitution. I do not understand why. I want our democratic republic, they on the other hand want a theocracy.

Of course, one big difference:

Tonya Parker in 2012:

Though she chooses not to perform the ceremonies, Parker said she passes marriage ceremonies on to other judges so they can be completed.

Kim Davis in 2015:

Kim Davis, the Kentucky court clerk who has repeatedly refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, will remain jailed for contempt after refusing a compromise that would have allowed deputy clerks to issue the licenses.
Five of the six deputies had agreed to issue the licenses -- only her son would not relent -- but Davis refused to authorize them to do so.

Reasonable Accomodation

She is Playing at Being Persecuted

IOW, lying....

Lot of that going on 'round here...

In leery of the reasonable accommodation idea. Why not just do the job one was hired to do? No one is making her be a clerk. One one is making the lady be a flight attendant. Can do the job then fine one you can do. A company should not need to accommodate people for their bias or bigotry.

Court rulings have held that companies that are able to can be required to make reasonable accommodation for individuals' religious beliefs

Personally, I'm with ya, don't want to serve booze, don't get a job serving booze, etc

George Will:

But surely it is a wholesome rule that executives should obey legitimate court orders ... (Kim Davis) made a choice, unquestionably, her faith is important to her but evidently her paycheck is also because she did not resign her office. We’ve been here before, in 1892, a Massachusetts policeman claimed that his constitutional rights of speech and association had been violated by rules governing and restricting political activity by police. The Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts head against him in an opinion written by a Massachusetts judge named Oliver Wendell Holmes who said the policeman has a Constitutional right to engage in politics, the policeman does not have a Constitutional right to be a policeman. She has that same problem. ”
