Found out on the CBS that Rio and HNL are going to be in open time for Dec since service starts midway in the month (and some other BS reason). So, that being said, the grannies will STILL want to stay home for their grand...I mean GREAT grandbabies. So SAPPING a Christmas trip will be easy.

Where should I go? Hawaii or Rio?

Don't be upset if you have to spend some time in PHX if ur going to/from HNL. I know the 767's can make it, but why did the company send all those west guys to CLT for class?

What training did they attend in CLT? Differences for the 767? I'd be surprised if US tried to push USAPA by ignoring the transition agreement.

As I've said numerous times, either side can fly the route because it's not protected by the transition agreement, but flying the 767's is protected until pilot integration.

Rio or Honolulu?

What a dilemma to have - if only I had to make that kind of choice.

They are both cool in different ways.

Rio - pros: You have got to love a country where the national drink resembles a Kamikaze!
The scenery is really incredible.
Cheap emerald shopping.
Girl from Ipanema Bar.
Nightlife starts late and runs to sunrise.
Having a beer for breakfast from a stand on the beach watching the sun rise.

cons: Petty crime and not wandering into any wrong parts of town.

HNL - pros: Where to start?
You get off the airplane and smell the plumeria as you're walking to the van.
Mai Tai at the Shorebird which used to give a killer airline discount.
Happy hour at the Chart House by the marina - great food and drink 1/2 off.
Ala Moana Beach Park next to Ala Moana Mall.
Pool Bar at the Hale Koa Military Hotel.
Climbing Diamond Head.
Friday night fireworks
Fort DeRussy Park.
All Star Cafe for sports.
Great locals.
Quicksilver mother store.
Cool Japanese picture poses.
Curry rice.
Elks Club Diamond Head.
John Dominis for brunch.
Aloha Tower.
Ward Warehouse.
Ocean's sushi happy hour.
Surfing - from Queens to Kaisers.
Matching ABC muumuus and aloha shirts!

cons: petty crime and lots of working girls.
Mele kalikimaka one too many times that time of year.

Live Cam
When you go to the "Duke" statue call your friends and make them jealous with a
live video of the crew.

Hell, do them both.

Usairways so far has a appeared to found a niche market in gig looking at early bookings.......now that usairways has recieved foreign approval the gig-clt flights are beginning to show up. Hnl unless it is a late booking city it is not looking so great so far but only time will tell

They have sold approximately the same number of seats on the CLT-HNL flights as they have on each on the PHX-HNL flights thus far, leading me to believe it isn't too far out of line (or that the entire US-HI market isn't looking that great then)

HNL is quite expensive and VERY VERY VERY touristy... crazy tourists EVERYWHERE.

The beaches are nice for swimming of course 🙂

Personally, I'd go for Rio... I mean it's RIO... 🙂

It's been a while since anyone shot down a police helicopter in HNL:

Just remember, if you hear gunshots, hit the deck.

Seriously, though, RIO is a fun place.

ALL TOO TRUE!! I was mugged at gunpoint (by a group of guys who appeared to be in their early twenties or so) while with 3 other crew members, in daylight, and we were literally probably 50-75 ft. from the main police station.. I had several guns in my stomach and they started talking in portugese, at that point you just hand everything over. I have been there many many many times, and this is my only bad experience, not the only one by far, many crewmembers experience these types of situations, just be smart and dont wear your flashy jewelery or diamonds out etc. etc...

Will the ife on clt-hnl in first/envoy be that of any other transatlantic flight in envoy.
