Global warming wreaks havoc on the Heartland

There is no reason why econonmic growth can't be accomplished with cleaner technology. I think developing hydrogen is a lot more attractive than relying on brown coal, though we have enough coal to last centuries and the tech to covert it to gas has been around since the 20's. A lot of the 3rd world pollution comes from multinational co.'s that don't need to bother with labor or enviormental problems, although we usually pay for their tax breaks.

If you check, you'll probably find they are companys that left US for less stringent environmental rules than those IMPOSED in the US?

And US jobs too!

A fond thank you to our great government once again...

:mf_boff:

Dig deep into Kyoto Accords and tell me why US should be penalized for providing for the world while 3rd world can pollute their country carte blance?
So true...if they start enforcing it in third world countries, what will US companies do then?REad this.

Who's 'THEY' that will enforce it The UN, the WHO?

No the greedy companies will move it where they have no enviromental laws, you know some place like Mexico.

"This is a watershed decision," said Kassie Siegel, an attorney for the Center for Biological Diversity in Joshua Tree, California. "Even the Bush Administration can no longer deny the science of global warming."

I hear that Friends of Polar Bears is acepting funding to move these guys to the South Pole when they run out of ice.

They won't be endangered until their food source is extinct. They don't eat ice.No ice, seals hang out aroung rocks and beaches....duh....so will Jack the Bear 😉

An article some may find interesting...........

Possible cause of global warming
Very interesting and quite supportive of the real issue.Of course you must be on the payroll of or have keys to that certain lodge up high in the mountains...

BTW,I was conducting my own experiment in support of global warming caused by carbon dioxide in the upper reaches of the atmosphere.I used a carbon dioxide source some 50+ years old, tried and tested as a genuine source of the evil gases....As I exhaled,I utilized this finite source of evil greenhouse gases to fill about 10 party balloons. My findings,of which I may attempt to have published, were quite disconcerting. For some strange reason unbeknownst to me the balloons keep falling on the floor and laying there. This is undoubtably some freak of physics because as we all know these gases are going well up into the atmosphere,as told by world reknowned scientists all who recieve Federal funding.
Well anyways,I am at a total loss to explain why these balloons keep laying on the floor. If anyone has input,it would help. Why aren't my balloons rising up like they're supposed to?After all they're filled with the evil greenhouse gas carbon dioxide.

. . . A lot of the 3rd world pollution comes from multinational co.'s that don't need to bother with labor or enviormental problems, although we usually pay for their tax breaks . . .

It's very true Bagbelt, that the third world will become or already is a significant source of those climate-warming pollutants. But it's not American corporations who are the culprits-- it's human nature.

And speaking of human nature, just how does America ( or any nation ) get these developing countries to opt for cleaner technology or less ambitious growth? Aren't these nations simply walking in the footprints of the industrial west which passes through those parts several decades earlier? Is the UN gonna put them on double secret probation if they pollute or knock down a palm tree in the rain forest?

I find it very strange that some factions lean real heavy on the activist side ( read that big government that taxes wealth and business excessively ) which makes one hell of an anthropic assumption -- namely that mankind actually controls this Earth.

Folks are indeed quite correct to be concerned about those aspects of human behavior which do impact the global warming paradigm. But activists target the wrong cause. It's not the corporations or B43 for ignoring Kyoto. It's all of us who contribute to pollution.

But man's activity is not the end game of climate. There is no absolute solution to what is happening because this mother Earth and the ( still not fully understood ) forces of climate are bigger than any of us.

I hear you when you voice concern about what we as individuals can do to leave a smaller footprint on ma Earth's rump. But I'm not gonna sing "we are the world" and think that taxes and technology is the fix all. We are indeed gonna have to cough up climate $$ in the future. I want it to be well thought out and well spent.

Definition from NOAA website on search "global warming".

Global Warming
An overall increase in world temperatures which may be caused by additional heat being trapped by greenhouse gases.

Note total absence of words like: are-is-are being-are due to-Hmm,gov't paid for site that realistically deals with the subject.
Thats greenhouse gases which are heavier than air... 😱
