Saw a memo out yesterday that we are starting the GoFirst program on the Transatlantics called GoEnvoy. Upgrade will be $500 per person. You can also upgrade Envoy to Row 1 on the A330 for $300 per person. The US1s will continue to get upgraded to the sleeper seats until (I believe the end of Sept) for free.

when will the upgrade be sold? Will US1's still have priority to use their TA upgrade certificates if they are not upgraded at the 7-day window?

Like the current policy of GoFirst. 30 hours before dept.
The US1s should be cleared in advance if seats are available in the correct booking code, if not, it will be done at the airport from the standby list when seats open up in the booking code required.

What A Frikkin Joke!!! If I was a Full Fare Paying Envoy Pax, I Would Be SOOOOOO Pi##ed!! "Welcome aboard Mr SMith, Thank you for your full fare business, did you know mrs white trash at 4a only paid $500 to sit up here?"

I suspect that this price will not erode too many upgrade options for VFFs. It's not giving it away. $500 roundtrip: that would be a giveaway. I would certainly bite at $300 each way. But I guess it depends on the base fare. Are all fares eligible to upgrade?

When I was last travelling T/A, I'd pay about $900ish per r/t. Add another $1000 for roundtrip upgrades and that's $1900. I'd say that's about right, isn't it?

Just because someone doesn't fly alot doesn't mean they do not deserve the chance to upgrade. I know many US1s that are white trash too. How arrogant!!!!

I would have responded sooner, but there is a great Jerry Springer episode on now.

The price is good because the total price is about the same for a discounted Envoy ticket with restrictions.

I have a question, though. Shouldn't a US1 on ANY booking class (upgradeable booking classes that is) be given the upgrade priority over the GoFare person? Is this happening on domestic flights? This topic was raised before and I guess I misunderstood the answer. My understanding was that no upgrades sold until all elites upgraded, here, it would be only US1's with an upgrade certificate.

So what's the pecking order at the 30 hour mark? If a non-elite flyer wants to pay the GoEnvoy, do they go in line after:

1.) Elites with TA certs
2.) Elites wanting to use DM miles to upgrade
3.) Nonelites wanting to use DM miles to upgrade

Is that about right? If you're on a Y/B fare, it almost makes sense to just pay the 10,000 miles for the upgrade. But if mileage upgrades are given less priority than GoEnvoy, then maybe not.

And, can anyone confirm what coach fare codes these cash upgrades are/aren't valid on?

There will be lots of drama and crying and name calling at the gate when this goes into effect. Many of our US1's that dont get upgraded on the transcon's start behaving like kids in kindergarden when they don't get a seat in First. It's like watching children pout and whine when they dont get a cookie and others do. And these are intelligent, normally well behaved businessmen. It would make a great hidden camera segment on tv.

I've seen crybaby CPs. I love when something is not going their way they have to blurt out "I'm a Chairman's Preferred".

I was a CP, but never was a crybaby. I knew the rules of the game. If I was on a $170 transcon fare, I considered it a privilege to have the F seat. Otherwise I'd be content in a nice exit row coach seat.

But it seems that more F/A/B/Y fares are being purchased that either give immediate F seat assignment, or give near 100% chance of getting one. Compared to 3 years ago, is this true?

Well, if someone is going to get that upset when they aren't upgraded, particularly on a transcon, then they should be buying the fare that will upgrade them when they buy the ticket. I don't sweat out upgrades--long haul, short haul, doesn't matter, I make sure my fat butt is in FC when I buy the ticket.

I like UA's policy with upgrades in general. But one of the things they do is only upgrade a B/Y fare at the window. So, a US1 wouldn't be upgraded until 7 day window which means a US3 couldn't buy a B or Y fare before me and snag the upgrade that I should be getting. It also means higher paying customers get rewarded. I think UA's system recognizes loyalty and higher spending much better than the US system. Why shouldn't a US1 who spends $100K be treated better than a US1 who spends $5K a year?

That may be true.. but it is like a scarey nightmare, you already know what is going to happen.. you are approach the 31" ZONE.. 🙁 I am going to be even more "disappointed" when the new pitches get installed in the EAST planes.

I have to say, realize that CPs are people who travel alot and have had the bad experiences of being "crunched" into Y. And your best CPs who pay the last minute fares are the ones who get stuck there the most....

The only part I have issue with is the removal of the "free" upgrade to row 1 for Chairmans' It is just another devaluation of the Chairmans Preferred status.

As long as Envoy seats are available AND all elites requesting upgrades are accommodated, why not sell them? BUT if sales are made at the expense of your most frequent customers, I have to question the logic behind that..right or wrong, it is perceived as just another FU at your best customers.

Just my opinion.....

My CP's have been just fine lately. It's the US5's that are my current problem. What is a US5 anyway?? Until recently US4 was the lowest ranking on the manifest.
CP's are usually the easiest to deal with..they know the routine. US5's act like they are royalty (attitude included). Do they know that WE know their pecking order??
