HA just announced they will start service to SYD May 17 pending gov't approval..Interesting. A little surprising..Hawaiian is still fighting through their bankruptcy problems. Pretty nice. All they need now is to add it to the AWA codeshare

I think its high time HAWAIIAN became the airline to fly to Hawaii. It should fly to the EAST COAST and ASIA. Why not fly to IAD and JFK, I can understand avoiding the hubs of DFW, ATL and ORD for obvious reasons. Fly to Japan and avoid Tokyo would be my strategy, Seoul, Taipei, Hong Kong. Fly to major Austrailian cities, Brisbane and Melbourne as well as Sydney. Auckland should be on the map too.

This actually marks a return to Australia for HA. They ran a weekly DC-8-62/-63 flight to SYD from 1988 until the '8s were retired in the early '90s.
