As MCI, I am collecting the SS bennies but not medicare - yet.

We paid for that out of our paychecks for years as you have. Those are goverment-mandated taxes we paid with the promise of that money's return at a later date. Basically, the programs were set up for those who couldn't manage to save any money.

If I could be refunded all I paid into those two politician slush funds PLUS INTEREST, I would be quite pleased to waive all payments/consideration from both funds.

Expecting money to be repaid that was taken is not socialism - far from it. Wanting to cut those payments after the money has been withheld is legalized robbery. Adding insult to injury, your National Social DemoncRAT Party wants to take from me and others who have worked and hand the money over to welfare cases that do nothing but pop out kids to add to their welfare checks - that's socialism.

Wow. Last I heard Boehner was a Republican. He said last week the REPUBLICANS wanted to cut entitlements and gave the examples of social security and medicare. So unless he has changed parties it is your beloved GOP that is trying to steal that money from you. I must admit I am not fond of the Dems either but the teabaggers have taken over the GOP and they want to get rid of SS and Medicare. But you can believe what you want. The point is that you are getting your social security but you don't think anyone else should get thiers so that makes you a hypocrite. But most card carrying teabaggers are. I'd take that deal too, because your buddies will make sure to move the age back so far that I probably won't live long enough to collect it. I never had the luxury of opting out either. You get yours at 65 and I get mine at 67 until they raise mine to 70 so they can keep paying you. But that's fair isn't it? As long as you are getting yours you don't care about anyone else. So-called "Savings" accounts, such as Social Security and Medicare, are not entitlements. The funds witheld for years have been raided by politicians and replaced with IOUs.

Welfare payments, SNAP, the free Obamaphones, and similar crap ARE entitlements - which should be done away with. The recipients CAN do something useful with themselves to earn their keep. Section 8 (in Okiehomie) housing is the scourge of the city - that's another entitlement.

Entitlements are things paid for through taxes by those who are working or outright theft from same - a wealth transfer, if you will.

You, me, MCI, and everyone else who draws a paycheck has paid, over the years, for the Social Security FDR set up and Medicare and Welfare, that LBJ set up in hopes of furthering the goals of the demoncRATic plantation - the sorry bastard is on record saying exactly that while at the same time entangling the USA deeper into Vietnam (raising the price of Lady Bird's Bell Helicopter stock).

Frank is right about gov handouts, except that the southern RED states are the biggest recipient of those handouts, meaning those states take in more money then they pay in fed taxes.

As far as social security and Medicare go, Gov Perry was right it is a huge ponzy scheme, where we are paying for the baby boomers and today's grade school kids are going to pay for our retirement. But Rep Paul Ryan and the GOP consider social security and Medicare entitlements and want to cut them, cutting entitlements sounds better to the ill informed rather then cutting social security.

Go on google search for Ryan cutting entitlements and see if it says cutting food stamps or social security / Medicare.

When you say liberalism do you mean social security, Medicare part D, no child left behind, corporate welfare, bank handouts (TARP), spreading freedom throughout the Middle East, hand outs to Africa to fight AIDS.
