Her Royal Thighness

Is Hillary Clinton a political weather vane or a political compass?

Consider her latest detour from the NAFTA and WTO policies of her husband. Last week she announced her opposition to the proposed trade agreement between the U.S. and South Korea. The place for her remarks was a town hall meeting in Michigan organized by the AFL-CIO.

She described the agreement between Bush and the South Koreans, requiring Congressional approval, as “inherently unfair.â€￾ “It will hurt the U.S. auto industry, increase our trade deficit, cost us good middle-class jobs and make America less competitive.â€￾

No kidding! Where has she been for the past fifteen years? For those words could have described the consequences of both NAFTA and the WTO. The U.S. auto industry has been emigrating to Mexico and China. The trade deficit has gone off the charts, nearing nine hundred billion dollars in 2007 and is four times greater than what it was ten years ago. Industrial job loss is being joined by the outsourcing of white collar jobs in even larger numbers.

Speaking of HILLARY,....................

(But first this lil' point)
I saw Fred Thompson on national TV yesterday(Thompson, a man I respect, AND, who I think will get the GOP nomination), and ol' fred looked ANYTHING BUT "robust". He "looked" VERY old, and Tired(yes, I'm aware that Sen. Thompson has a form of Cancer). Even when in the Senate, he did'nt "stand out".

............................(now)Back to HILLARY.

Delldude, Local 12, you "heard it here FIRST", the Democratic Ticket will be....Hillary Clinton, and(Gov.) Bill Richardson............vs.........Fred Thompson and(?).

(maybe Fred Thompson, and Tommie Thompson)

End result;

Clinton/Richardson !!!!!!!

Better get use to it...Now/(Early) !!!!!!!!

Hell...the way she was kissing Richardson's butt during the last debate,it was quite obvious she either wants him as veep or shes doing another Vince Foster thing.

Unfortunately as WN Bubbleboy is showing...Hillary is an opportunist who swallows for support and votes. The American people are too naive to see how she waffles from one stance to another for political expedience.

What they vote for will not be what they get...I'd expect her

to abuse the executive order option to its limit.

Remember Lanny Davis' quote? "Stroke of the pen,law of the land..pretty neat, huh?

**DellDude Predicts**

Hillary will cause many Dem votes to go Republican and won't win.

...and Bears you "Heard that here FIRST"!

Well fellow posters....to "that" I say,
Hillary has access to a blank check for this campaign.
She is surrounded by a staff, that IS "second to none"

Her people know EXACTLY what it takes to WIN, meaning they KNOW which states to WIN, how many electoral votes to get to, and perhaps most Importantly, her staff KNOWS the exact demographics that they must "get out to vote", and I honestly think that they WILL be successful.

And LAST(but by no means least), she's got "EL Chimpo" who probably gains her support each and EVERY day.

For every Independant who won't vote for her, she will get Moderate Republicans(especially female one's) who WILL.

Time will tell !!
I LIKE "my" chances !!!!!!!!!

You hillary detracters..MAY want to start(in advance) learning a new phrase called.......MADAM PRESIDENT !!

In last year's midterm election, exit polls indicated that proportionally more women than men voted for Democrats, and they were credited with helping Democrats regain control of Congress.

Now Hillary Rodham Clinton is seeking the Democratic nomination, and women are being mentioned as possible vice presidential candidates in both parties.

"Hillary will win this election from women 18-35 years old," her campaign director, Terry McAuliffe, has said. "I think people in that age group will come out to vote, and they want to see a woman president in this country."

Not everyone agrees.

"Women don't necessarily fall into line just because of gender," said Bruce Buchanan, a government professor at the University of Texas at Austin.

"Women will split between the parties. It would be a mistake to assume the female vote will be monolithic."

Another perspective

Clinton, whether she wins or not, is breaking a bit of the glass ceiling by running -- as Geraldine Ferraro did in 1984 when Democratic presidential candidate Walter Mondale picked her as his running mate.

"Just by putting a woman on the ticket, Fritz Mondale made a very bold statement. He opened the door," said Ferraro, who is a Clinton campaign fund-raiser.

"Fritz had been 16 points behind in the polls in June. When I was named as the vice presidential nominee in mid-July, the polls went dead even."

But soon came questions about her limited foreign policy experience and about family business dealings. And the Mondale-Ferraro ticket went down in defeat as Ronald Reagan won a second term.

Clinton "is smarter than I was and more experienced," Ferraro said.

Maybe not; but many women try every product that Oprah recommends. (Remember the fiasco about the book "A Million Little Pieces.") Will it be any different when it comes to election time?

U.S. Sen. Barack Obama has drawn the backing of Oprah Winfrey.

George Will article regarding Unions and Union Organizing:

The Supreme Court has said that the card-check system is "admittedly inferior to the election process." Hillary Clinton, who has given herself a makeover as a moderate, and who was elected by secret ballots, and who hopes that next year voters will use their secret ballots to give to her the power to nominate Supreme Court justices, nevertheless toes labor's line when she advocates abolishing workers' right to a secret ballot.

Abolition, she says, will "create a fair and level playing field between workers and employers."

So Hilary isn't a shoe-in for the dem ticket afterall.

"Just when Washington insiders were beginning to think of Sen. Hillary Clinton's nomination as inevitable, here comes Sen. Barack Obama to shake up that assumption with stupendous second-quarter fundraising totals: $32.5 million raised, of which $31 million can be spent in the Democratic primaries.

That's a bigger total take than Clinton's impressive $27 million for the quarter.

So who's the front-runner now? We're in the middle of the "invisible primary," the year before the election when no actual votes are cast but candidates compete for money and attention.

Historically, the candidate who has raised the most money and leads the polls at the end of the invisible primary (i.e., December 31, 2007) ends up getting the nomination.

At the half-year mark, Obama, D-Illinois, leads Clinton, D-New York, in primary fundraising."

Obama looks stonger than ever
