HHD and adding LODO--Flight Attendant Work Issues Discussion--

I used the HHD the other day to/ from Europe in the aisle for the first time. It wasn't so bad. To me, they have made it as easy as they could possibly make it: Press wine, Press Quick Cash. Or press wine, swipe the credit card, press print. Done.

What suggestions do you have to make it easier?

Yikes. I guess I should stop serving my predepartures after pushback when we are running late...
I guess you weren't the A on the PHLIMCO flight yesterday who will be receiving several customer complaints because he was so lazy and didn't serve pre-departures, nothing during a delay, and then only offered coffee just one time (only coffee) and then disappeared.

Wow, so let me get this straight.... You used the machine, pushed the same buttons I would have to push and on top of it..... Got the same result I do when I use it? NO! You're lieing! It can't be as easy as you say! Your co-workers beg to differ.

I flew US Airways not long ago and was shown the machine before we even had it and I thought it was simple enough. Now we have it and it's as easy as bread to use, and the same exact version.

Call it what you like.
Obnoxious, particularly those I have seen with their one hand out and their other hand on their hip and then there are the female F/A's who just stand there and say, i need your cup, i need your cup.

Exactly!!! And, I've never gotten an unexpected "to go" bag on CO! 😛h34r:

GO CASHLESS.

I guess that would be easier, but I just take the cash, drop it in my apron, make change if needed, and move on. I really did not notice the machine slowing me down much. I did have issues placing it somewhere on the cart at first, but now I just drop it in my apron, and it's fine.

Are you working domestic or international? Huge difference. Get out in the isle with the contraption with no Euro or Pounds for change. Start doing the conversion click click click. Oh now tell the thing you owe change and type in the seat number. Take it a step further, it's a drinking city! Whoo hooo. Times that by every other row. Too many steps. It should be "Headset" swipe done! "Alcohol" swipe done. All transactions in USD. Every machine should be boarded with the counts already preloaded. Don't tell me that software can't tell the city pair PHL-FRA and not be told in advance how many of each thing is in the respective carts. They make is so freaking hard.
And cashless would solve multiple issues. Don't give me the people don't have CC crap. What the heck did they buy a ticket on us with? I bet shock, with a credit card! And honestly anyone who doesn't have something with a Visa or MC or AMEX logo on it doesn't need to be buying a drink. Bring a PBnJ from home. Rant off.

Again beachboy I'll have to agree with you. Sure you'll have your occasional flight where you'll have a few drinkers here and there but some flights to Europe are HUGE drinking flights. It's random it seems but using the HHD in the aisle with the conversions and NO CHANGE to do it is a huge PITA. I don't think anyone on here is saying it's rocket science but US certainly does make things harder than they have to be. The handheld itself is user friendly as fare as "looks" go but functionality is a whole different situation. Just last week the poor pursor was trying to transmit from the time we hit the runway until the last passenger was getting off. FAILED, FAILED, FAILED. Same on domestic. Please don't tell me that it's just the occasional HHD here and there either. I did a 4day on the whirleybird 190 and those HHD's are pieces of.......well anyway. I feel that US should go completely cashless. Everyone has a debit card or a credit card. Like beachboy said, "what did they buy their ticket with"? Just get rid of the cash and make it simple. 🙄

I think most of our passengers would rather the service we perform and are busy doing than a bag of liquor they could afford all by themselves. If a "to go" bag is what keeps you loyal to US, than more power to you.
