HHD's

14 + cocktails????
Nevermind.
I'm gonna "Ask Inflight" about this one. I don't see anyone in the sand castle allowing money to not be collected because of some glitch or whatever. Think about it.

I get your point as most at 1111 Rio Salada Dr spend their days tripping over dollars to pick up dimes.

However when it comes to the terminally impaired IT department at US, one has to inquire as to whether they even had half a clue that "Revenue Leakage" was even occuring due to the HHD's and their apparent fragile nature.

This trip I just finished, I "rang up" a wine. One wine only. Swiped the CC and what is on the receipt but 1 wine, 1 red bull and 1 frap.
I attempted to refund the credit card and the HHD crashed. When it came back up it no longer recognized the credit card I was trying to refund, would not print "previous receipt". So what do you do? It would be nice since these things are so unreliable to be able to manually input the CC when needing to refund in a situation like this. Of course, had no cash to refund him so gave him another wine which he was satisfied with. But I was not.
How many of you have to run the card through several times before the reader accepts the card? What a waste of time.
I prefer no cash handling too but we have to have more reliable HHDs. They don't transmit in many stations, even in large cities. Having to run back and forth to store the HHD box up front where there already is no spare space, even for the working flight attendants manual or purse, etc.. The HHD manual falls out every time you open it because some fool designed it with the opening on the wrong side.
City pairs should be programmed in automatically when the flight number is input.
"Lite"? How about fruit and cheese? At least most of the misspelled stuff is fixed.
Rant over. I'm passing this onto Ask Inflight. Funny though, I still haven't received answers to several questions from last week.

These HHD issues are unsettling. You contacted "Ask Inflight"...? They are BUSY. More than likely on the Observation Deck of the Laboratory where LCC's "Bride of Frankenstein" is undergoing a boob job. The airline analysts have stated US needs a makeover and obviously all the Inflight Interns are Busy watching the process. They completed a MANUAL REVISION (minor improvement), can't relocate many more atlas carriers without reconstructing an entire airplane galley and are still unsettled on another 'revised' announcement booklet of gramatically incorrect, p*ss poor verbage. Work on the HHD? You must be kidding......they probably couldn't get the thing to Function themselves. These so called "Specialists" prove more and more each day, they aren't SPECIAL in ANY sense of the word.

That's funny.
We're all special, Astro. Short bus, short plane... Searching for network, unable to transmit.

While we're on the subject of the announcement booklet, if anyone from the anouncement writing gallery is reading this, the A321 door exit announcement is the most retarded, convuleted, confusing thing ever. If people had to evacuate they would be running all over the airplane looking for the "additional doors in the mid section of the aircraft" which are announced AFTER the door exits in back as noted in the hideous booklet.
Suggestion:
There are:
2 door exits in the front of the aircraft
2 door exits at row 9/10
2 door exits at row 22 and
2 door exits in the rear.

In addition there are 3 lavatories for your inflight relief and 3 bored, cranky, overworked, underpaid, baby boomer flight attendants who have their bids all over the galleys and suduko in the jumpseats, and one reserve who got stuck flying 'C position' after getting called out for some PIT commuter who couldn't get to base.

What's that? You want a pre departure drink? Sorry, that's too much work, especially on the 321. I'm busy texting anyway. Be right back, hafta go into the cockpit to check the flight time from PHL-CLT.

Bravo FlyGirl! You get my point. (Unfortunately the lab Technicians will NOT!) Your point on the A321 departure announcement is SPOT ON.........the current Company Verbage is CERTIFIABLE BS and makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. How that garbage can possibly pass FAA approval makes the entire Agency appear as incompetent as the clown (and I know her name) that wrote it. Probably why you hear more' tweaked' or rescripted renditions on a regular basis. Verbatum...? Hahahaha.........write one that is worth repeating. (Hard to set bar high when some of the interns received their degrees from the packet inside a box of CrackerJacks). So what about the 'boob job'.........the patient surely has undergone the procedure, been in recovery and ready to try on some bikinis for the beach scene. Then again, they may be shopping around for a Low Cost surgeon <lol>.....maybe Michael Jackson's doctor is versatile in the Laboratory of Science, location Tempe.

If one of our poor passengers flies USAirways AUS-CLT-PHL-MAN ...the following will result:

AUS-CLT "oh, I'm sorry we only take cash. We don't have credit card machines" No HHD's on Express.

CLT-PHL " I'm sorry, we only take credit cards...no cash allowed...ever!!" Mainline Domestic

PHL-MAN "Of course..we'll take cash OR credit cards, US dollars, Euros or Pounds Sterling" US International..

Is it any wonder why this airline is so messed up?? No wonder our passengers are confused. This should be a simple transaction that has been completely screwed up by the brain-trust in Tempe. Absolutely no thought, insight or consistency.

Oh please....

It's not that damn hard.

I just flew with a gal that couldn't handle the HHD. Her excuse was...she has been flying INT. My response...what? you don't use them??? Oh, well, yes but I just worked up front.....oh well ...kiss my my a.....!

I am so over people using every excuse known to man for being a stupid employee. And Lazy!!

Key Phrase here is "Use The Tools"!!

Agreed that consistency on this matter would be nice (and probably will be coming at some point in the future), but I believe most other airlines have a similar policy so it's not as if US is the only airline out there with a lack of consistency. For example, AA is cashless on all mainline flights but AA Eagle/Connection do not take credit cards at this time - I believe the same can be said about DL Connection.

I've said for a LONG TIME, some of these people are more STUPID than the Day is Long! The argument/excuse that "I only fly International" is so pathetic and lame. Some wouldn't know where in the hell to even sit (jumpseat wise) IF you didn't even remind them, let alone WHAT they are supposed to be doing or WHEN. Talk about frustrating. The HHD's ARE used on Int'l flights (some are pretty challenged, some downright clueless and most have no problem with them). If the Company would have properly trained the F/A's in the FIRST PLACE with a more credible program and required a competecy check there wouldn't be the issues of the occassional Dimwit bewildered on the handset. (Having those so called "Specialists" stationed in the Crew Rooms served no purpose but to gossip and do EVERYTHING But teach the masses H-O-W to use the machines.) Cashless is Great but the inconsistency between the Express, Mainline and International operations clearly demonstrates what a cluster* THIS AIRLINE can be when it comes to Customer Service. Period. (And there isn't ANY excuse I am buying for whatever THEY come up with).

These machines are user friendly. They are no big deal. They walk....spoon feed you thru the process. And so help me god...if one more fa hands me the HHD back to me with the excuse that they can't figure it out......that hand is going to get slapped.!!

Can someone show what the phrasing is?

I'll look it up tomorrow and post it. It's ridiculous and pointing the exits out in the order they have it written in the booklet is absurd. That's just my opinion (and every other f/a that I've flown with on the 21)- but what do we know? We're just here to pimp out nap sacks and munchies.

A321 As the flight attendants are pointing out, there are a total of eight door exits on this aircraft:
two in the front of the aircraft
two in the middle section, and
two in the rear of the aircraft.
There are two additional emergency door exits in the middle section of the aircraft.

The 757 isn't any better.

757 blah, blah, blah...... there are a total of 8 exits, blah, blah, blah....
two door exits in the front of the aircraft,
two door exits in the middle section of the aircraft, and
two door exits in the rear of the aircraft.
There are two additional emergency exits in the middle section of the aircraft equipped with slides.

Who writes this stuff?
For the 321 why couldn't they say two doors in the front, 2 at row 9, 2 at row 22 and two in the rear. Same for the 757.
