HOUSTON / TEXAS, HYPOCRISY !

I really don't think disasters should be politicized, and I have family in Houston. But not that long ago several Texas politicians, including our current energy secretary, were so upset with the "Taxed Enough Already" socialist Obama administration that they had floated the word "secession" a time or two. Houstonians should breathe a sigh of relief that none of those politicians actually followed thru with that talk. But, had they done that, we'd still help - we'd just chalk it up as "foreign aid".

Don't be so smart, Bears. No, Texas can not secede from the Union. (We had some unpleasantness back in the 1860's which settled that point.) However, you are evidently not aware that when Texas became a state, it reserved the right to split itself into 5 states at any time.

Try to imagine 10 U.S. Senators from the area now known as Texas. That would be over 10 percent of the U.S. Senate. The Senate would have to be enlarged to 108 Senators. The Constitution guarantees 2 Senators from each state. There are already 2 Senators from Texas; so, we would have to add 8 more for the 4 new states. Also, since the Constitution sets the number of members in the House of Representatives, and each state is guaranteed at least 1 U.S. Representative, some states would be losing one or more Representatives.

So, you had better come up with the recovery money for the Houston area. "Blackmail is such an ugly word. Let's just call it a vicious threat." --Ernestine, the telephone operator (Lily Tomlin on Laugh-In) :D

of course we're going to politicise it! why not?

It was politicians who allowed rapid over developement. A lot of houston was flooded by opening the dams.

It is politicians who need to lead but wont.

It was 67 politicians who voted against relief for blue states.

And, it was the great republican, franklin graham who said katrina is God's response to immoral gov't.

It is spelled politicize. If you are going to exhibit faux rage at least use spellcheck.

Why not indeed. The left never wastes an opportunity to use a tragedy to push an agenda.

That is a fine example of talking out of both sides of your mouth KCFlyer.

At least you spelled politicized right. Take notes Contra Mundum.

Not really. Just saying that they might want to watch what they say.

It is faux outrage, Mr. ESL certificate holder.
No. I said rage and I meant rage.

outrage
noun
  1. an extremely strong reaction of anger, shock, or indignation.
rage
noun
  1. violent, uncontrollable anger.
I say rage because I don't believe what we are seeing is a reaction.

I believe what we are seeing is a leftist finding never ending sources of things to ***** about and tragedies to politicize for the sake of pushing a narrative.

It would not surprise me if Contra Mundum was an Antifa weekend warrior.

Class dismissed.

You know...Ted Cruz and several other Texas representatives voted AGAINST aid for Sandy because it contained about a million dollars worth of "pork". They were making a statement. Back in the Obama years, when times were good and there were no disasters on the horizon. Texas politicians floated "secession" to express their disgust with the sitting president, Obama. Back then, the right found never ending sources of things to ***** about and tragedies to politicize for the sake of pushing a narrative. Now these are the guys talking about aid for Houston - WHICH HOUSTON AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS NEED AND DESERVE. Politicizing this is saying we should withhold aid because their senators and representatives were total jerks during Sandy.
