What's new

How about another "Occupy" protest

Here's an argument for you.

Declaration of Independence states that rights are conferred by God (Creator), on this there is no dispute. It then follows that those who drafted the COTUS used the rights conferred by God when drafting the document. Therefore a belief in God was established by the very nature of where the founding Fathers believed rights came from. Ergo, God in the abstract context of the word, not referring to any specific religion was instrumental in the formation of our nation and the Freedom & Liberty of it's citizens to live as they choose.

To me if you have no belief in a God head of some sort then who conferred these rights upon you? Santa Claus? It is hypocritical to demand the rights conferred upon you by God if you have no belief that God exists.

Nice argument but there are a few problems. Most of the founders were Deists not Theists. The DI talks about a Creator not God. Creator is mentioned once and God is only mentioned once and it is "natures God". The COTUS does not mention the word God once. One would think that if there were as religious as you claim that they would have at least mentioned God once. The fact that "creator" was only mentioned once in the DI and never mentioned in the COTUS seems pretty intentional to me.

Government grants the rights. Sometimes it is a government that is by the consent of the people sometimes it is not. Laws are passed by man and enforced by man. It is only hypocritical to demand the rights conferred upon you by God if you do not believe in God.

Maybe wording 'Creator' encompasses everyone of all faiths or no belief system at all.....Duh

Definition of DEISM
: a movement or system of thought advocating natural religion, emphasizing morality, and in the 18th century denying the interference of the Creator with the laws of the universe

de·ism
n.
The belief, based solely on reason, in a God who created the universe and then abandoned it, assuming no control over life, exerting no influence on natural phenomena, and giving no supernatural revelation.

deism
the acknowledgment of the existence of a god upon the testimony of reason and of nature and its laws, and the rejection of the possibility of supernatural intervention in human affairs and of special revelation. —

Why you need to present three interpretations if there's only one non God?

LOL.................either He exists or He doesn't, but then again there's Santa Claus.

One non God? Never heard that one before.

I was just presenting various definitions of deism all of which basically mean the same thing.

Where's your proof that most of the signers were deists? Also why would it make any difference if deism is a belief in a God as opposed to a Christian or Islamic God? What happened didn't win the prize in the Easter parade in Sunday School you Christian Hating Bigot. and you want me to tolerate Gay Rights? You tolerate Christianity and I'll think about tolerating Gay Marriage! How's that work for you Bigot?

Deist.....is like Carlos Mencia Dee de Dee?

Read their biographies and the papers they wrote. Deism has nothing to do with a religious God. Then there is the fact that there is no mention of God or a Creator in the document that is the very foundation of every law in the US.

It's about equal rights not gay rights. The legal arguments are all about equal rights, not about gay rights. The term 'gay rights' is just a label. I have not seen any legal argument that is based on it.

Keep back pedaling! You're like the KKK only it's Christians you want to lynch and sad to tell you that since rights are conferred upon individuals and not groups, Gays already enjoy full legal rights. Marriage despite the recent statist moves to control, tax and regulate it has been controlled by churches whose positions are quite clear for centuries. It's only been recent that the Government has had it's foul hands involved.

Gays do not have equal rights Marriage is a legal contract. You can get married in a church but with out a license it carries no legal weight. I got married by a JP out on a B&B ranch. My marriage is legal under the eyes of the law.

I find it funny that you do not acknowledge or discuss the fact that these religious institutions you refer to are seeking legal protection for a religious function. That seems to be a clear indication that marriage is no longer solely religious affair.

While all US citizens are not yet equal in regards to marriage, I think it is only a matter of time before that is corrected.

Dell, seems to me that the word GOD or ALLAH means CREATOR

YES, NO or MAYBE ???????

AND, I'm a bit surprised that YOU, an hombre' who lacks shyness has no rebuttal to my informing some of the regulars here on the cooler(southwind) that the Good ol' USA plundered and killed the Flathead Indians during thier removal off of Big Mountain MT(THIER LAND)., and then had the Nerve to put up a statue of good ol' Jesus. !

(WOW, Some of you are making this TOO EASY for me, I mean....this is like shooting Fish in a Barrel ) !

southwindbag,......have you ever been to Whitefish Montana ? NO, I didn't think so !! I HAVE.
(actually it doesn't make a difference if you had or not. ) But let me TRY to enlighten YOU.

As your looking from behind that statue of JC the prophet, sorry, make that J the prophet, You can see that big lake there (That's named Flathead lake, southwind) And if you look REAL close you can see activity on the water, fishing etc. "THOSE PEOPLE" are called Indians. More specifically, Flathead Indians from the Flathead Indian TRIBE, who OWN 1/2 of flathead lake.

Want to know how they came to own 1/2 of Flathead lake southwindbag ? Well it goes like this ; Our Peacefull 🙄 United States Government, in A N O T H E R "removeal" Battle that took the lives of WOMEN and CHILDREN, "removed" the Flatheads off of THIER land...........which included (calvary drum roll please) BIG MOUNTAIN, and then later on .......Presto ChangeO a statue of J the prophet arrives !!

Now I've got to back over the whole topic to Read about the Impending Islamic "Conquerors" 🙄

(Except for Ms Tree,)...................... How APROPOS !

You saying the 10th mountain division attacked these indians because they wouldn't convert to Christianity?

I wonder how they ended up owning half. As mean and ruthless as we were I am surprised that we didn't take it all. You seem like a "glass is half empty" kind of person.

Hmmm.. Because a couple of athiests have their panties in a wad, we have to go disrespect the veterans who built this memorial.

When athiests whining has to trump a veteran group's freedom to express their religion, you really have to wonder where the Fed's priorities are.
