How many jobs cut on the heels of Q4 loss?

1000 jobs? 2000? jobs.....$200 million lost? What are your thoughts/guesses. Reality sucks but we need to face it.
 
Heck, with the kind of losses companies like Bank of American are posting, US is doing great to have only lost $200 Million. I'd say we should be hiring! 🙄

Where are you getting the $200 million dollar figure? Is that a guestimate, or has word leaked out?..We don't report earnings until Thursday.

Analyst estimates for the 4th quarter are for a loss of $2.15/share. There are approximately 114 Million shares outstanding. This estimate probably doesn't take special items into account.

Shares outstanding of LCC: 114,100,000 shares
Average of analyst's estimates loss per share: $2.15

114,100,000 X $2.15 = $245,315,000 loss for the quarter

Just responding to the previous post -- I have no idea where that figure comes from.
 
My post is time delayed and i have no ability to respond to comments made to me in a timely manner so please be advised ..


It's likely our 4th quarter losses will not be horrific because we had the holiday season to carry us through along with lower fuel prices ..

However if management is reading this thread ..and by that i mean upper management .. i urge in the strongest sense possible that any employee let go from us airways now receive two months severance pay ..I don’t care what department they come from , what job they hold or what contract they are covered or not covered by ..

To release ANY worker to unemployment in this environment without a severance package is INHUMANE ….

Did you know that in the state of Arizona the maximum unemployment benefit is 275 dollars a week ? It’s the third worst rate in the country …

I urge every union at us airways to join together in pushing our company to take up a policy urging our company to give any laid off worker a 2 month service package , and this goes for union and non unionized worker alike .

I just got off the phone with Doug and he said that you would just spend that money on booze and drugs. So that's a big negatory, good buddy.

The contract addresses all of this; I see no reason why the company would deviate from it especially given the economic situation. I believe that for you and I, weeks of severance generally corresponds with years worked.

Good or bad, the fact of the matter is that this is an airline, not a charity. There is a difference between being not generous and being inhumane, and I'd imagine our management well knows this.

We don’t know what the 4th quarter results are yet , and I doubt they will be terrible , but I could be wrong.. I’m thinking about the future going forward , and it’s likely that we will be laying off people this year and that our results will get progressively worse …

Any of us could be that laid off person , so why don’t we all push for /demand this ? Tell me why SHOULDN’T we all get a severance package , I think each and everyone of you is worth at LEAST 2 months for your service here ….

Read your contract...you get 1 week for every year of service/max 15 weeks. You're asking the union to request an across the board $$ package? What are you smok'in. I'll bet you have at least 100 people in PHX who haven't paid their DUES? Maybe you should have "Motioned" that at your local lodge meeting.
