How many jobs will AA outsource?

I can see the company convincing CWA leadership to keep mainline agents in a handful of large cities and everyone else falling under Envoy. For agreeing to it the company allows the CWA to represent Envoy, increasing overall union dues for them and saving the company money. Basicly hub employees will top out around $27.00 an hour while most the rest at Envoy top out around $17. The company and union make out fine, while most agents take another cut.
I almost had it right. Just substitute the words red coat, work from home and b scale and the rest is spot on. Good luck everyone?

Red coats become cars. Take over half our work. It's already in current contract. :)

I simply feel that Single Payer is the way for us to go as a nation. I'm of the mind that health(care) is a fundamental right for American citizens, and something we should be happy to provide for each other. Many on the right feel that the ACA goes too far, is "socialist," and more.

I think it doesn't go far enough. In his quest to appease, Obama wound up with a sort of hydra that doesn't really make anyone happy. Insurance is still expensive (albeit more accessible to some), drugs are still more expensive than they need to be, and so on.

...And that doesn't even touch on the separate issue of deficiencies w/in the VA system.

Just my .02...

Sorry for the hijack, Slopoke...
Once again we agree, every person should have access to education and health care.

Outsourcing, AA will outsource as much as they can, the biggest restraint to more outsourcing isnt our contract, its the cost and availability of places to outsource the work to. For the first time ever I saw an ad for A&P mechanics at UPS at JFK this week. Previously if you wanted to get a job with them you had to go to their main base out in the Midwest. The fact that they are looking for mechanics in JFK is encouraging news.

Every person does have access to education. It's called public school. There are also grants, scholarships, apprenticeships, and government sponsored training programs. I will give an example below. I fully support this group and the opportunities it provides its participants. I rather citizens get training and be productive citizens that can shape their own future than lifelong welfare cases or career minimum wage earners.

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Transportation-Connections-WorkAdvance/205013246277439

Every person does have access to health care. It's called a free clinic. Not to mention ER's are required by federal law to treat everyone regardless of their ability to pay.

Keep pushing that Democratic agenda to manufacture "entitlements" to hammer the middle class tax payers with though Bob. You claim to fight for the membership and working America, you claim you defend a "middle class" income, yet you are far too eager to support yet another government intrusion into their wallets.

Instead of demanding more money so you can pay more taxes to empower the Democratic Party why don't you just skip the middle man and demand in lieu of your raise that American Airlines carry a health insurance policy on X number of people........

In the end are YOU willing to take a hit to YOUR standard of living to fund these "entitlements".... or are you all to happy to pass that burden on to your employer?

If you are willing to take that hit then why the hell should any UNION member expect you to represent their best interest?

I can see the allure of contract help (outsourcing) for the company. They don't have a UNION pushing propaganda to a membership to demand ever increasing pay to fund a political agenda.........

What I said is very relevant to outsourcing.

Why would American Airlines want to be burdened with a UNION that pushes propaganda that increases their cost of doing business when that cost has nothing to do with the company, their brand, their property, or their employees? Do you really think the company wants to keep a propaganda spewing machine like the TWU and a workforce with anti company sentiment around?

Bob opened the door I simply stepped through it. Why don't you speak for you and let Bob speak for Bob. He does not need you to speak on his behalf. I know you suffer from grandiose delusions that you single-handedly speak for all things airline and UNION but you don't.

Union: American Airlines Tulsa Engine Shop To Lose Jobs ...

I understand that this heading is misleading (I think) but, why isn't anyone discussing this?  The two items that really stand out are below;

Some of the employees will be working in jobs with a lower classification, which means they could see their pay cut as much as $10,000 per year.
And;

Danker said there's a chance that some positions will be cut.
Are these positions part of the 400 or so that some were talking about going away in Tulsa in 2015?  If they are anyone know where the other 245 could possibly come from? The pay cut of 10K per year is huge, in Tulsa that's a house payment, 2 nice car payments, or a great amount to be put into retirement.  What exactly is the union doing to prevent this or to fight it?  Or can they even fight it?  Was it yet again something the TWU agreed to with the co.?

AA has a plan up their sleeve and IMO this is a temporary move until these employees can be used to push a JCBA through.

How can the union fight job cuts? Especially when there are openings throughout the system.

Speaking of headcount has anyone considered the rush to get a JCBA is to set the stage for more headcount "adjustments" once SOC is approved? Movement of people and/or work from LUS into LAA locations and vice versa?

Met a guy today who was RIFFed from AFW a couple of years ago and is an AMTO.  His wife and kids live in Fort Worth and he works in Tulsa.  It sucks bad enough that he is away from his family but he loses $5 an hour too?  Come one TWU you can do better than this.
