 WOW, is this true? That was quick! Anybody have the details?

Almost there. In LAS U is moving to HP space tomorrow. This is the first station to have this happen. So, there will be one "branding" of the name for everyone in the entire system. 9/27 is the offical date the the judge signs off on the BK that is the offical "Day 1". Intergration will happen over the next couple of months as each station has different issues.

Speaking of changes.

With U's large footprint at LGA...will the HP ops continue at JFK? , or will JFK's function cease and be combined with the old U's operations at LGA?

HP makes A LOT of $$ off the JFK flts.
I would be surprised to see them go.

After re-thinking this question....I think I found an even bigger issue. I doubt that WE would have the legal rights to fly LGA to PHX or LAS do to perimeter rules regarding LGA.

Seems as if nothing gets past you today. (LOL) 😉

I was having a weak moment...and trying to gaze into the cost saving future of our combined companies. 😎

They could also keep the JFK ops for more Star Connections. Maybe make 1 CLT/PHL/DCA/BOS trip into JFK (even on Express) since they have the facilities and staff (or contract staff) already in place at JFK. Its not just a matter of cost savings, but revenue enhancements that need to be looked at.

What's the plan, if anyone knows, for cities where US already moved closer to UA? I'm thinking SEA, for example. I would hope HP would move to the North terminal so the "new US"-UA connections are still relatively easy.

It's not changing until next week, but the AWA sign on HQ does come down 9/21.

I wonder if we will see any caribbean expansion out of JFK? LGA Caribbean serivce is limited to destinations that are pre-cleared. Having a presence in JFK could offer opportunites to serve NYc to the islands.

I really have no idea on what restriction thay have at LGA, but US was flying until the schedule change LGA-SJU thats a 3 1/2 hour flight non-stop, more or less the same to PHX or LAS. So I can't figure out why it can't be done. Apart from the carribean maybe some international can be done from JFK. Remember New York is the gateway to the world.

LGA has a 1500 mile perimeter rule-no nonstop flights over 1500 miles from LGA, except on Saturday. I believe the LGA-SJU and other Caribbean flights are Saturday only. The only exception to this rule is LGA-DEN which was exempted from the rule. Further exemptions are highly unlikely.

This is a long standing rule designed to force usage of JFK and or EWR. Furthermore, LGA's runways are only 7000 feet long, which up until the latest generation of jets would have made longer range flights tricky due to load restrictions.

Thanks Art, I didn't know the 1500 NM rule. This may sound funny but JFK-SJU is 1496 NM. I wonder if LGA-SJU is around that cause LGA-SJU is A $$$ maker.
