What's new

If this is all about DL employee's "overwhelming desire" to unionize...

Yes it is.

They cap out at 4 after 11 years...

P.S. Just an FYI, I'm at NWA with you...
Figured that...lol I've just been sitting back waiting and watching for Delta ramp people to speak up and inquire about our contract. It looks like they kept their heads just above water to keep them happy. Just knowing what I know about their sick leave and vacation, not to mention their medical scares the crap out of me and would make me vote union again. Only thing I havent heard is their payscale, and how they handle moveing in a case where they get laid off, and want to keep their jobs....

Here's the payscale... Since it's a "monthly" scale, I divide the dollar amounts by 173.3 to get the hourly rate (NOTE: I rounded up/down to the nearest penny):

Base Pay

Start $1,611.60 = $9.30/hr.
After 6 months $1,671.78 =$9.65/hr.
After 1 year $1,707.24 =$9.85/hr.
After 1-1/2 years $1,758.06 =$10.14/hr.
After 2-1/2 years $1,784.12 =$10.29/hr.
After 3-1/2 years $1,972.32 =$11.38/hr.
After 4-1/2 years $2,130.26 =$12.29/hr.
After 5-1/2 years $2,247.44 =$12.97/hr.
After 6-1/2 years $2,539.60 =$14.65/hr.
After 7-1/2 years $2,653.18 =$15.31/hr.
After 8-1/2 years $2,836.28 =$16.37/hr.
After 9-1/2 years $2,965.84 =$17.11/hr.
After10-1/2 years $3,161.72=$18.24/hr.

From what I've been told, by DL'ers, there is no exercising of seniority per se (at least as we know it). As I understand it, it's more of a "you-can-go-where-there's-an-opening" kind of scenario. Hopefully, one of them will chime in here to either confirm or clarify.

I've been a ramp lead for 25 years and wonder what their lead premium is and the upstairs supervisors are management?

They don't have 'Chiefs' like we do. The ramp supervisors are all mgmt.... The closest to a lead override that they have is what's called the "Assign Load Agent," which pays $135 extra monthly. No idea about the CSA side of the house.

I'm an ESC too, so I'm really curious/concerned to see how this specifically will play out if this merger comes to pass.

Thx , guess we'll have to wait to hear from some of the Delta people to see why they don't think a union contract can help them....

Don't worry I have your backs here in LAX. We have supervisors here talking negative about the IAM to the part-timers. Telling them lies about NWA benefits, I just wish someone can give me a comparison to shut them up. I'm a IAM supporter and a organizing committee member. I know our ALA pay is the pits thats why I drop the radio. It's not worth the BS we have to put up with.

Let me know what info you'd like for comparison, and I'll be happy to either post it here, or PM it to you.

Keep up the good work down there!

Highlights of the NEW DL negotiated Pilot Contract:

*Increased Profit Sharing

*Per Diem increases

*Reimbursement of real estate commissions in the event a base is closed within 24 months. Max; $35,000.00

*Full pay sick leave hours increased from 240 to 300 hours on a rolling three-year basis

*Seat on the Delta Board of Directors

*Medical Insurance Retirement improvements

*Additional 1% to Defined Contribution Plan (with increases in 2011 and 2012)

*3.5 Equity in the merged Company

*Delta Air Lines agrees to pay the Union's "costs and fees" incurred as a result of the merger

WOW! And the rest of the non-pilot, non-contract, non-union DL employees are only going to receive 4% of DL/NW stock! Incredible!

Wow, 10 Billion combined loss and they are asking for the moon. lol

Am wondering if these airlines are planning on keeping any other work group or are the pilots going to do it all.
They sure aren't leaving much for anyone else and I don't know where they think the company is going to find the money for the stuff they are asking for.

If the company approves all this, then I'm convinced bankruptcy round 2 is in the works and all this will be history again anyway.

That's an easy one. They'll get it from the rest of the non-pilot, non-contract, non-union DL employees, just like they always do. I'm going to emblazen a widget on my wallet as an official ATM of Delter Airlines!

Robert:

Delta execs 'already' approved the above deal. Those are the highlights of the Tentative Agreement already reached with ALPA.

Is in it amazing how management just a few years ago blamed the pilots contract for the high cost before going into bankruptcy. Now our new management are giving up the panties again just to keep them happy. I guess you don't learn from history.

Most of the time when there is this much giving, it's because there is a plan "B" in the making that no one knows about.

The pilots will be so exhausted from fighting amoungst themselves that when the company attacks there will be no more fight left in them...LOL :jerry:

As for the rest of the employees, I'm not so sure it is going to matter if your union or not.
I think there is a plan for you, and it's called outsourcing.

Good luck and may the force be with you. 😉
