OK I'll bite!
Who's Friendlier:
The Insurance Company customer service people, medical case managers, etc
OR
The drone at the:
DMV
Social Security Office
Veterans Administration
When you have your personal answer to the above then I think you'll know if you favor ObamaCare or the freedom and liberty to decide for yourself.
My personal experience would indicate the drones are better. The fees are the fees, they are there for everyone to see. I had my hernia operation and was told to bring $1,300 to the pre-op. OK fine, I brought $1,200 and had the operation. A moths or two later I get two more bills in the mail totaling over $1,500.00 Called to ask WTF. You can imagine how far that got me. They can go hang them selves on the $1,500. Not going to happen.
We have also been screwed over twice so far by workman's comp ins companies. In my case it was with my hernia. I was told since I did not know when (as in time of day) and that since I did not experience any extreme pain, it was not a covered event. Three doctors told me that most people who get a hernia do not know exactly 'when' they get them because they usually do not experience pain at the time. I know what day it happened and I know it happened at work while working. Nah.... go fish.
My wife had a covered medical workmans comp case and we were just told to go fish. She was told that she missed too many appointments. The fact that we were never told about the appointments and that they were with a doctor that had discharged her to a different doctor did not matter. The fact that she was seeing and being treated by a different doctor that workmans comp was paying for did not matter. We appealed and were told ... do you want to guess... go fish. We can either find a workmans comp lawyer or let them win ..... again.
Been to the DMV tons of times. Never had an issue. Took my driving test back in AZ a few years back and the lady was really nice. I said I lost my CA license (did not want to surrender it) so I took a written test and was told to make an apt for the driving test. Se the apt, showed up. Waited all of 5 min and we hopped in the car. Went around the block, parallel parked and that was all there was too it. IIRC, she was kind of cute too but married. OH well. TX, same thing. Went ot get my TX DL. Filled out the forms, waited in line. Got up to a friendly lady, she took my money, too my picture and that was all there was too it. I have noticed, that with most government employees (I guess the rule applies to most people in general) that you get what you receive. I am a smart ass by nature and I like to crack jokes and make people laugh. I have received lots of free stuff and discounts just by being nice. I very rarely get screwed over and I have quite often have people make exceptions for me. Sure I have been screwed over. Never by the state or fed so far. Always on the private level.
The one exception may be unemployment office. Not sure who pays them... I suspect the business have a big say in how they are run because of my experience and those of others I know, if there is any gray area in how one got canned, they will take the employers word over the employee every time it seems. On one of the appeals I lost, there were 3 signatories on it. One for the state, one for the employers and on for the employee. The state and employer guys voted the same ever time... big surprise. The employee advocate was on my side several times. Two out of Three wins. .... GO FISH.
I seem to recall reading articles about the insurance companies that indicated their MO was to deny many of the major claims in the hopes that they were not contested. Any thing risky or any experimental procedures were rejected out of hand. Any loop hold they could find would result in rejection. With any luck, the patient would die than bye bye claim. To may claims of a certain type in a certain, region.... no problem, just drop the coverage and run.
I have not dealt with SS or vets but I do have a friend who has claimed SS disability. He had no issues, actually he got approved quicker than expected. So you'll pardon me if I have no qualms about nuking the insurance industry back tot he stone age.
